He doesn't seem all that average to me and BOTH his knees work. |
I hate to play the what if game but a buddy at work borough up a awesome point.
What if we had got Peyton here and had drafted Cousins. Imagine 3 good years with PM and him teaching Cousins. Plus we still have all our draft picks. sigh.
The main problems with that scenario are: 1) Manning doesnt teach, he takes most or all the reps, and is solely focused on winning. That's not a bad thing, but I don't think Cousins would learn from Manning (no other qb has), and it's not his job. His job is to win. 2) Manning very possibly would be hurt behind our current line, which is built around rollouts screens and a qb that is mobile |

Somehow I think it does play a big part. The one thing I can tell with RGIII is that he tries to prove his toughness. You can see it in the quotes.
"One thing I won’t do personally is quit, or play scared. I’ve never played scared in my life"

"Even if they have to cart me off the field, I’m going to get off that cart and walk away.”
...and there countless of other quotes just like this. He has nothing to prove, and I certainly don't think anybody has questioned his heart. Even if they did, who gives a ****. |

Stephen McGee, Kafka, Skelton, Crompton, Rusty Smith, Dan LeFevour, Nate Davis, Rhett Bomar... You know what they have in common with Tom Brady and Cousins? They were drafted in the 4th round or later... You go with the norm not the outlier. There is a reason the vast majority of franchise starting quarterbacks are taken in the first round. Tom Brady being the exception. Not the rule. Don't compare Cousins to Brady. |

He is a backup quarterback, if the skins really believe he will be an answer as a starter they would be mistaken. Look at Flynn, Kolb from philly, there is a reason they are listed number 2 in depth charts. There was also a reason the skins did not want cousins to play in the playoff game. Maybe cause they knew Cousins would not win them that game. Extremely small sample size with Cousins and Redskins fans act like he is going to come in next year and take the team to the playoffs... Cousins is a great backup... average starter. |
The NFL Players Association is expected to decide soon, perhaps Friday, whether to demand a formal investigation of the Washington Redskins’ handling of the knee injury suffered by quarterback Robert Griffin III under the sport’s collective bargaining agreement, a person familiar with the situation said Thursday.
This will be interesting if they push it. |

Well, actually, we don't know what he is, and what he can be. My guess is he will get a lot of preseason playing time, and then we might have a slightly better idea. There is also a reason he was the game 1 backup and not Rexy. There's also a reason that when all three were active (for only one game) Cousins was listed as the backup. We don't know what Cousins upside is, and comparisons to Brady are unrealistic at this point, but he did show some good things. I am excited that we go into next season, even with RGIII hobbled, with what looks to be a solid qb setup. That's simply unheard of as a Redskins fan. |

Way too early to make such claims about Cousins' ability to be a legit starter. Way too early |

This will be interesting if they push it.
This finger pointing is really silly. I have come to the conclusion that if you want to blame someone, blame Robert Griffin III. I know he is 22 and thinks he is Superman, but you have to listen to your body better. Forget the knee recovery, I hope he recovers and matures in his brain. Know when to sit down because YOU CAN"T WALK! I mean Geez. and to all these experts who say the Redskins shouldn't run the read option? You guys are crazy. Keep running it, but buy RGIII a slippy slide this summer and pour water on it and teach the man to slide. some one needs to make a complation video of Peyton and Tom Brady's slides. Dr. Andrews... part of RGIII's rehabilitation is watching that video everyday! |

I dont really understand your response to donofriso. But this may be an oppertunity for KC to become a Matt Cassell, in the sense we can trade him after he plays well for an exteneded time. Although KC is still very very unproven, this is a huge oppertunity for him and Kyle Shanahan. |

This will be interesting if they push it.
Why push for an investigation about RGIII and not Tony Romo, Mike Vick, Dez Bryant, T.O., Jason Witten, Phillip Rivers, Donovan McNabb, and all the other players who played through similar - and some LIFE-THREATENING - injuries? I went on a rant about this in the rant thread, but it seems everyone is making a huge deal of the skins handling of RGIII, while instead praising those players/teams for doing the same thing. |

Yeah not sure how anyone can make any grand conclusions about him with 1 start under his belt. A start that he shined in no less. Let's wait and see. |
