So your vote is for the Mets then? They were in first place for like 90 days

Mets had lots of injuries too I believe. But yes, I'll go with them. The whole NL East was the biggest disappointment altogether. It was hyped as the best division in baseball going into the season. It was bad. The Braves couldn't even get over .500 for more than100 games. The AL Central is pretty shitty too. |

I am not saying you are wrong, but was it really being touted as the best division in baseball? Over the AL east or the NL west??? Anyway Cole is smoking cocks again and this is kind of a game you do not want to be smoking cocks in. |

Other than the Orioles the AL east is trash

AL East was in the running too. But Phillies, Mets, Braves, and Nationals were all supposed to be pretty good. And the Marlins are up and coming. In the NL West, the Giants were supposed to stink. I don't have divisional pride and could be remembering wrong. |

Orioles and Redskins fan. You're the best fan in the country lol. You poor bastard. |
Re: MLB thread
Orioles can't even lose right. They were tied with Diamondbacks for the no. 1 draft pick with the last week left.
Orioles has-BoSox and Toronto, Arizona has-Giants and Rockies. I thought the odds were in our favor but nope Orioles decided to show up and win on Tuesday. Last night the Giants tried to give the Diamondbacks the game last night and they wisely said no thanks. |

They should have extended Showalter. So should we have. He was a better manager than Torre. |
Re: MLB thread
I loved Buck. When they hired Mike Elias as GM the writing was on the wall though. Elias is too driven by analytics. I am holding out hope his system works though.

I kind of read about it, but didn't totally understand. Like each team would be a letter. Then two letters play, then the winner plays the other letter, or something. It was like Sesame Street. Could have got a refresher on the alphabet. |

Lol, what a sigh of relief for Yankees fans. A sweep this weekend would have been crazy. NYC might have burned down. |

Baseball is so wild. 162 games and things still weren't decided till the final out of the season.

That is why every game is important. From the first to the last. Football that is a given but even when there are 162 games man. I think about some of the dumb shit Boone did this year in what seemed like a meaningless game in June and he could have saved all of our blood pressure’s yesterday….., |

I don't really mind Canadians or the Blue Jays. I'd rather they have played the Yankees than the Red Sox. Feel bad for them being stuck in that division. Very difficult road to the playoffs. |

In the NHL, I do find it funny that the Stanley Cup winner is always from a team based in America. I know we have more teams, so the odds are higher. But a Candian team hasn't won since Montreal in 1993. That's pretty crazy. |
Re: MLB thread
Ive never watched as little Os as I did this past year.
I think I watched maybe 30 innings total. We got the no. 1 overall pick bc the Diamondbacks decided to come back and hit a walk off yesterday. |

Yeah way less teams and it isn’t like Canada keeps their own on their own teams. Ya look around the league though and they are everywhere |

Curious to see how O's use the number 1. I see them drafting a lower value player to save some pool money later but IDK. |

That HS ss (Green?) from florida seems like the consensus no. 1. Elias usually goes underslot college bat though. Read that the first overall pick in MLB is always underslot, apparently no. 1 overall Adlery Rutschman was "underslot". theres a lot i dont get with MLB drafting. ---------- Def watching the mfNYY v Sox tonight |
Re: MLB thread
I was reading about him and I think there is a collegiate SS that is no.1 from those ranks. That is part of the confusing thing with baseball you have these different groups then you have the international draft and international money. I think it will depend on how far Elias thinks we are from contending on whether you go HS/college

Re: MLB thread
I have had a huge problem with Boone. He makes real questionable calls on the daily. Like how in the hell is Gallo the strikeout king batting cleanup behind Stanton and Judge last night. Apparently his staff is equally as questionable- phil nevin wtf is wrong with you????
Time for Boone and Cashman to go. This is what happens when you build a team around 30 homerun 200 avg hitters and neglect your starting pitchers because analytics tell you the bullpen is more important. Gerritt Cole you should be arrested for impersonating an ace. |
Re: MLB thread
Few thoughts from last night:
It is still weird for me to see Cole in a Yankees uniform Fenway (or Boston) is not what it was. I used to love seeing games in Fenway in the late 90s and prior to 2004. The place was packed you rarely saw opposing team gear in the stands. Now they are like every other stadium it was like 20% Yankees fans. You never saw that in the 90s. Boone and his comments like "The league is closing the gap on us" that is laughable. He needs to go. I agree with Cashman too. Punch I think you have only one genuinely home grown talent on the team in Judge? I might be wrong but that is far different than the Yankees teams in the past. |
Re: MLB thread
Love seeing a typical Yankees big ticket item implode in the playoffs
My final thoughts on last night: awesome |

Just like here in DC their are folks who cheer for the Cowboys just to be the antagonist. The atmosphere at Fenway has not changed i promise, if anything it has gotten better, in the 90s a lot of boring seasons. We even get free Sox tickets at my school at the end of the school year as a gift. It really didn't turn around until 2004 with the WS and the pink hat nation. I hate the pink hat nation fan more then a die hard yankee fan. |
Re: MLB thread
Maybe I am just nostalgic for college times IDK. I only remember seeing a handful here and a handful there. So I'll defer to your longer experience. A lot of heckling at the Cask and Flagon

If the game was Red Sox vs. Bmore say 1997 it be: 80% Sox Fans 15% Yankees 5 % Os fans Fenway attendance. The Yankee fans just come to be annoying. The Cask and Flagon, meh, always to crowded and there is a alcohol shot ban after the 7th inning for all the bars in the area. |
Re: MLB thread
Also for everyone keep this in mind, the internet has made it so much easier for visiting fans to buy tickets now in all stadiums. The process is nearly instant and can be done from anywhere in the world. Back in the day you were not driving from NY in hopes of scoring a ticket for last nights game.

That Schwarber HR was ridiculous, most guys can't even foul that off let alone get around on it
