Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
Larry Weisman reporting (on Twitter) that Ray Brown has been named asst. coach o-line for the Panthers. Good for Ray.
Speaking of former Redskins coaching in the NFL, I found this thanks to a Tweet from Redskins.com: Green Bay Packers: Chad Morton |

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
Apparently Zorn couldn't cut it as a head coach. Now he can't cut it as a position coach. I guess he will be relegated to gatorade dispensing engineer in the UFL.

No, and in fact I'm feeling more more flaccid than Zorny than I have ever been at any point in the last 3 years. How bad must Zorn be if he can't cut it as a quarterbacks coach anymore? |

Wow. One and done as a QB coach. Amazing the man was our HC for two years, and now he can't even cut it as a position coach, let alone a coordinator. Yikes. |
Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
^ Under Zorn Flacco had his best season. From what I read, Zorn's ouster has much to do with philosophical differences with Cam Cameron, perhaps less to do with actual performance.
|
Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
I guess that this doesn't qualify as good enough production.
In his only season as the Ravens quarterbacks coach, Zorn was known for his quirky drills. Compared to 2009, Flacco’s touchdowns (25) and quarterback rating (93.6) increased this year, his interceptions (10) decreased and his passing yards (3,622) remained essentially the same
Then again he was throwing to Mason, TJ, Bolden, Stallworth so I guess that his numbers should have trippled. :bs: Oh well, I could care less. It looks like Zorn is free to finally move onto Cleveland. I am not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. |

Fair enough. I still can't believe he was our head coach for not one, but two seasons. The whole play calling tree fiasco when Zorn got castrated and the bingo caller was installed.... I mean... that was probably the most embarrassed I've ever been as a Skins fan. Even worse than Spurrier. |

Just saw that come across on the 6pm SC. Wow. So will Bud Adams do a 180 and keep VY, or is that relationship done as well? Tennessee has a great chance at winning the Andrew Luck sweepstakes at this point. Also, do you think Fisher will pull a Gruden/Cowher and take a few seasons off? Retire for good? Coach next year somewhere? |

He could take some time off. Or maybe the Giants give him a call. Or the Texans? Tough to say, it's a bit of a stunner. It looked like he was gone, then it seemed like Adams had changed his mind |

Also, Clayton used the word "fired" about Fisher, not resign. |

You used the right word. When we called timeout and then still ran the swinging gate, it was my lowest moment in 40 years as a Skins fan. |

I think when our experienced head coach pulled the QB he spent a 2nd rounder to get, and put in Sexy Rexy, leading to a fumble returned for a TD by the lowly Lions to win the game was more embarrassing. |

EricStangel: BREAKING: Jeff Fisher out as Titans coach. Bud Adams says he's looking to interview Weeb Ewbank & Curly Lambeau
|
Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
My most embarrassing moment.... M Vick, 333 yds/ 4 TD 59-28 crushing beat down on Nov 15. That was the first time I turned off a Skins' game.
|
Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
I wonder who the Titans owner has in mind. I doubt the owner would simply wait so long after the season, then fire his HC who has done fairly well up untill the last two or three seasons with out having someone in mind or having already made a deal with someone to take over.
I know he will have to go through the whole interview process but you just don't fire a HC like Fisher unless you either have major differences, can't get along, or already have a replacement ready. |

That was the worst night as a skins fan for me because against the giants under zorn we had no chance, I actually thought we were going to beat Philly that night especially when we were fired up in pregame.. Mike Vick completely embarrassed us that night |

Crazy Fisher is out, even crazier is he was fired or forced to resign.

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
I think Fisher has done a ton with mediocre talent in a division dominated by the colts.
Of course we wont really know how good he is until the next guy comes in and does worse or better... I think he is one of the most respected Head coaches out there...I know many skins fans wanted him after gibbs and after zorn...I wouldn't have minded it either. Funny...this guy would have been a great match in Carolina...with a team full of average players and a tight owner....he would do well here too...he just would have had to get used to the big cash register. Best wishes to Fisher...I am frankly glad he was not available when the Cowboys were selecting their coach. |

Yep, Id say worse than Spurrier. And man...Spurrier was baddddd |
Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
It is interesting to note that there is now only 1 head coaching vacancy left in the NFL...it is with the Titans....so if Fisher wants to coach this year, it will be as a coordinator at best. I highly doubt he will coach this year...it is in his best interest to take the year off and get the best job next year....which may possibly be with the skins :)

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
I think with Fisher it was just time to move on for both sides. He's been there a real long time and he's butted heads with Adams more than a few times. Plus why would a coach like Fisher want to be stuck under a cheap owner like Adams? He can sit and do TV for a year and pick his job for 2012.

Show me something that he has done better than Shanahan? Fisher is a decent coach, not great. Shanahan: Career record 138-90-0 (Regular Season) 8-5 (Postseason) 146-95-0 (Overall) Fisher: Career record 136-110-0 (Regular season) 5-6 (Postseason) 141-116-0 (Overall) |
Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves
I don't know a lot about Fisher's background. Is he an offense or defensive minded coach? Coordinator before he had the head gig in Tennessee?
