Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I still think Limas Sweed is gonna be the best WR from this year's class, but you can't complain about Devin Thomas at 34. Todd McShay thinks Thomas will be a bust, but we shall see.
I like having 3 second round picks. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Under Bugel? Heck, you could start
Seriously though, yeah I think Schuening for example is every bit as good as Rachal and could start.
I already tried out and Bugel said I should try for that new Nepalese football leauge - he's a great guy. Is Schuening a G or OT? Do we need to grab him in the 2nd or will he fall into tomorrow? |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I think Hardy is a guy to watch in the NFL, I wanted him before the way the draft unfolded.
|

Schuening is an OG. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread

Thomas has some nice size at 6'2 216 |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I don't think we need an OL starter out of this draft, just some quality depth to develop for the future.
We'll need a starter if any one of last year's starters go down, and between Kendell, RT and JJ that seems more probable than not (I mean at least 1 of those three). You probably think I'm pessimistic but I hated last year's o-line mess. I'll be very nervous if we enter the season w/o an infusion of talented youth on the line. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
We should go after another reciever if sweed or kelly drops
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Tyrell Johsnon is gone -- Vikings
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
damn damn, minesota took the safety...I wanted him with campbell..
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Eddie Royal, this is a local guy from herndon, but hes a prick and an arrogant asshole. Hes just gonna be a problem in a few years

really? I loved that mess last year Relax, a lot of draft to go |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
there goes my bet tyrell johnson
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Man we're still 3 away from picking again. I'm sooooooooooooo glad the NFL sped things up this year.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Thomas has some nice size at 6'2 216
yea Plax made everyone think you need a 6'4' guy. go find someoen post that says they wanted Chad Johnson they put up Thomas' size next to him... |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Forgot about the 3rd second rounder. Devin is a decent pick at WR, quick, good hands, etc. Get a safety and a CB and we will be straight after the second round. After round 3 the talent level will really drop.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
maybe take limas sweed too? have two receivers to grow around and campbell? not a huge need, but could be a nice luxury
|

damn, only a touch? I thought it was dripping. I'm looking for some OL too. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
We should go after another reciever if sweed or kelly drops
Disagree. We have other needs, lets move on. We got the #1 WR on the board. DE, DT, DB, OL. Of course best player should prevail, but we have other needs. We can make a couple of crap shoot picks in the 6th and 7th rounds. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
damn damn, minesota took the safety...I wanted him with campbell..
What about DaJuan Morgan at safety instead. I actually like Morgan better than Johnson. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I worry about bust potential for Thomas too, but there again, kudos to the FO for trading down into the second to minimize the impact if that happens.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Just got back from the draft party at FedEx...incredible time!
I love the trade down even though we didn't make away with a huge advantge value wise. We get more young Redskins which is is what we need. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
How shocking would it be if they took another wideout at #48?
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
As a supporter of the CJ trade, I must say that I'm glad things turned out this way. I really didn't know if any teams were going work with us to trade down, and that picking a WR at 21st would be too much. I wonder if the change in $$ that happens between being picked 21st and being picked 34th is different enough to make someone like Devin Thomas work harder to prove himself.
Well I'm avery happy with three picks in the second rounds, given the talent and our needs I think this fits nicely. I really hope the lack of offense was more from the coaching philosophy rather than the need to an explosive receiver. I do hope that Mix and Thomas can contribute to the offense (and that we don't need to go after oldheads at WR) |

Matty, check ur pm..

Not a bad choice |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I like Thomas in the 2nd. Excellent trade down.
If we can land Groves in three picks, that would be money. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
How shocking would it be if they took another wideout at #48?
Very. I don't see that happening at all! |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I'll be happy with Laws, Groves, or Campbell with our next pick. Hey SS, whatever happened to Carl Nicks? At one point he was projected as a 1st rounder and he's been dropping in most mocks to the late 2nd/third.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I think Jordy is gonna be the best WR of the draft (followed by Thomas of course :) )
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Not a bad choice
Thanks Smoot. I would really like to get Morgan at #48 or #51. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
We need the DT from Arkansas and Groves with the next two picks.
|
I worry about bust potential for Thomas too, but there again, kudos to the FO for trading down into the second to minimize the impact if that happens.
I really hope that being projected as a first-rounder and then being selected in the second round gives Thomas a chip on his shoulder to prove that he is a first round caliber. I must say though, I was surprised everyone stayed away from wideouts in the first round. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
So, what's everyone's biggest surprise pick so far? I think the Steelers taking Mendenhall has to be up there. Also Sam Baker and Duane Brown...
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
If we could get Laws and Campbell or Harrison and Campbell I would be estatic and third round Zbikowski or Morgan. This could be potential the best Skins draft in the last decade value wise.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
The Steelers got a hell of a back
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Very. I don't see that happening at all!
Yeah I don't see it either. I just thought with Zorn, maybe he'd like his own set of new receivers -- especially since Moss and Randle El haven't been able to get it together. But they have to address secondary and O-line, no doubt. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Very. I don't see that happening at all!
Agreed. We're pretty set now, where else would we put another WR? |
