Re: Around the NFL Week 13
He can be pissed all he wants, pouting gets you nowhere and is always the wrong way to go about getting a new deal.
I wouldn't be surprised if they let him sign elsewhere. In fact they might be smart to do that. |
While I don't agree with his actions, up to a certain point DJax has a point. The guy single-handedly won that game against the Giants last season, and was their main weapon offensively. Now the team all of the sudden goes on this spending spree (Vick's new contract, Nnamdi, C. Jenkins, etc., etc.) and they don't give him a new contract? DJax I believe is still in his rookie contract, so once again he's being low balled by the Eagles.
Once again, not condoning his actions, but I see where he's coming from.
Just like Carlos Rogers felt when Hall was signed. |
Thats my point. How would any of you guys feel if your boss brought in new people and paid the twice as much as what your making, promised you they would hook you up and don't? You'd be pissed also.
I'd be pissed and I'd start looking for a new job. At the same time, I wouldn't tank on my current job. First, b/c it's just wrong. I've been shafted many a time - passed over for less qualified more politically connected folks, and currently work next to the laziest excuse for an employee known to man (and I have worked with some lazy ass attorneys) who is paid the same as me even though she hasn't put in 40 hours since I have been here. Regardless, I work hard, I work long hours and give my best b/c, ultimately, it's my name and my reputation at stake. DJax doesnt get that. You've been shafted; true enough - sh** happens. Either rise above it or sink into it. DJax has chosen the later. Second, it's just stupid. Someone once told me, the best way to get out of a job you hate is to do it well. Had DJax sucked it up, played hard and given it his all throughout the season, teams would be fighting to pay him lots of money. If he gets franchised, play hard next season too. It's a formula that got Walter Jones paid top dollar year in and year out in Seattle. Instead, by pouting and half-assing it, he will get low balled in free agency. Maybe someone pays him big ass money but I doubt it. He just hasn't shown up enough to deserve it. |

Not the same situation. DJax (at the end of last season) was worth a #1 WRs contract, Rogers (last year) wasn't worth the same contract as Nnamdi or Revis period. |

Jackson is really overrated as a receiver, but the ability to go vertical on NFL safeties is not a skill that you typically find beyond the first round. And that's Jackson's true value. He's a polished player who can break a game wide open. He is not a consistent down to down NFL receiver. He simply doesn't catch the ball well enough. Devery Henderson is a better offensive player than DeSean Jackson, so I think that's a good example of how limited the Eagles offense was compared to other elite teams in the NFC. There are teams like the Packers and Saints for whom hed be coming off the bench. And then there are teams like the Rams and Redskins who he'd be the unquestioned top receiving target. |

what jackson fails to realize is his pouting and acting like a baby w/out it's milk bottle isn't going to help him with other teams. and it's certainly not going to help with philly. he's only screwing himself. he'll eventually get a raise but he's not getting the money he thinks he's going to get. |

If you hold out for more money, fine then hold out, don't report and don't play until you get your extension or your release. Heck seemed to work well for Vincent Jackson. But if you are going to show up....then you damn well better show up. There are 52 other guys on that roster that are depending on you to do your part week in and week out. I got two words for you Matt Forte.......in the same situation in Chicago as Jackson is in Philly, trying to get that deal but the difference is Forte is busting his a** out there and he is part of the solution. Jackson is part of the problem. If this is the way he was gonna act, he shoulda just stayed home and continued the holdout. But if you're gonna report, you better come ready to play. |
You know what would suck? If the Eagles end with a worst record than the Redskins and can spoil our draft.
VERY possible... |

Absolutely correct! |

Did VY want to take a chance on us though?

I don't see why not, given that he could have competed for the starter job. It sounds like maybe we didn't want to take a chance? Understandably given VY's character problems. |

Same shit, they both want to get paid. Carlos was pissed 3 years ago when fat **** and Hall were signed. |
