A college professor of mine (who taught old Icelandic ... don't ask) said that Icelanders are very concerned about in-breeding (the island's entire population is 1/2 that of the city of Baltimore), and, as a result, foreigners score easily and often. Not sure if he was pulling our leg but, if this guy had success with the opposite sex, anyone could.

Lived there for two years and a half years on Keflavik base, true story. They used to come onto the base at the officers club all the time and they absolutely loved us when we went off the base to some of the nearby towns, especially in Reykjavik.
