Per Overthecap.com if it's a post Jun1st cut we save 187K, if it's a pre-Jun1 cut we end up taking a 2.3M cap hit. Gotta assume it was a Post J1 cut AJ Francis and Montari Hughes equate to 1.3M in cap savings |
Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
I heard that they re-negotiated his salary (either Tandler or Keim stated it) so that it was no longer guaranteed, on Over the cap the $3.25m is still listed as guaranteed,

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
If you look at this list, it shows a pretty consistent level of 1 and 2 round choices that have immediate impact. Payne and Guice should continue this trend.
Are we looking at the same thing? Can you name those 2nd rounders that made an immediate impact? The 2nd round has been a disaster for the Redskins. Preston Smith is the only guy that has a shot of being a career Redskin. |

This situation is such an improvement from where we were. We are going to have to cut a serviceable player because of quality depth at one of the most important positions. |

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
Cravens and Murphy were both solid until one nutted out and the other got hurt. Amerson was Eh but overall it's not a home run that every 1 &2 should Pan out. U can't hate on his drafts man, they are better than what we had before he got here.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No, we are saving 3,5M this year, and still quite a lot in 2019, 2,5M dead cap is less than what we'd had paid him if he stayed here. His contract was more than 5M/y. |

Very interesting. I've been curious about whether our running woes have been more due to OL or RBs, this suggests our line has opened holes. That said, it was with a lot of play from backups. Sorry, I'm in a smart ass mood. Yeah, maybe a vet guard will be released, I've been keeping an eye out, but honestly, do you think anyone we put in there will be any less effective than Lavauo? Nsekhe doesn't seem like a great plan, but it may still be an upgrade. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |
Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
BTW, Alex Boone is a Guard with a lot of experience. He hasn't landed anywhere in FA. Should the Skins kick the tires on him? He had a PFF grade in the 70s two years ago, last year on a one year deal his grade was just 39.5 (66th overall G) which was still higher than Lauvao at 38.3 (70th overall G). Doesn't sound great, but would you rather he compete for Guard than Nsekhe?

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
I personally would favor the 70th ranked guy that have worked with the guys and coaches and knows the playbook well, vs a 66th ranked guy that has to start from scratch.
I would far more prefer a udfa guard above that. Are there any guards ranked in the top 30 that could potentially be cut? Who drafted 3 or more oline? |

Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Already posted this in another thread, but here are available veterans G/C that could be more efficient than Boone: Jahri Evans (G, 34 years old, 71,7 PFF grade), Mike Person (C/G, 29y, 70,5pff), Brian Schwenke (C/G, 27y, 67,1pff) are all available and could be decent short term solutions to complete our OL! (by comparison, Lauvao 30 years old, has a 38,3 grade, and Kouandjio, 26 has a 49...). Dream scenario would be UDFA G Sean Welsh balling out... |
Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
How about Kouandjio balling out for a dream scenario?

McClain was just turrible. A big, slow, non athletic fuck. I wonder what they saw on tape that made them think he was worth giving big money to. He just seemed like once he got paid he didn't care.

Yeah but what’s more plausible, Kouandjio putting it together or an UDFA winning the job? |
Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
I think an UFA could beat out Arie. Also there's Kalis who started a ton of games at Michigan. He could take the job too. Arie is who he is at this point.

What's aggravating is we paid him essentially 7.5 mill for one season and he was a journyman who had 1 decent season with the cowboy. The red flags were there....but yet here we are without a Left Guard. people bitch about paying people, but we paid 7.5 mil for a guy who played like shit....gave us nothing. How about put that money towards a more proven player? |
Yeah but what’s more plausible, Kouandjio putting it together or an UDFA winning the job?
I think my first post may have been misleading, let's put it this way:
The way I see it, we know what we're getting with Arie, a decent player who can pass protect rather consistently but won't open lanes in the run game. With the UDFA, we don't know yet what he can do, so while he could be cut a week into training camp, we're still allowed to hope he would be an upgrade... that's why called it dream scenario. We should not be in this position. We did not address our biggest or second biggest need in our starting line up for a second year in a row. Who in our fucking awesome FO thought Kouandijo or a UDFA starting at LG is conducive to winning? Why do we we cheap out at Oline but have millions for an oft injured 3rd string WR or an old slot CB? |
Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
I don’t think we’re done looking at guards, a decent vet could easily hit the market

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
Man some of you guys love crying over spilled milk. Not every move works out, shit happens
Yeah I get that...but McClain and Stacy McGee really didn't put it together. So really 2 moves at the same position. 1 I can deal with...but 2 fairly large contracts in free agency same year? Come'on, that's weak. McClain was terrible...McGee was JAG. that's some serious scrilla for the worst run defense in the league. |
