Epic movie, I said the same on my fb about dark Knight being great but dkr is even better IMO. Nolan's Batman's are absolutely fantastic, even the non comic book or non Batman fan could see the brilliance in these movies. It's so much more than a super hero chasing bad guys.

I agree joker was the best villian but bane is a monster and his story was great as well. Ann hatheway is so fine as CW! But even her role was brilliant, love the ending and the possible future of it.

10 out of 10 imo a must see

I really don't have much to add beyond what you guys have said. It was an epic movie, and for one that's almost 3 hours long I felt the time passed really quickly. I just watched Batman Begins last night on FX, and to be quite honest it really solidified my opinion that the Batman series is probably the greatest trilogy I've ever watched on-screen. Everything was tied up nicely. Even though Heath Ledger's Joker was the best villain out of the 3 movies, I enjoyed Scarecrow/LoS in the first as well as Bane in the last.

Yeah Nolan reportedly made the film 4 hours long before he edited it down to 2:45, but your exactly right the movie goes by fast, hell I wish it was 4 hours long, because its was just so great and so fast moving.

As far as the batman trilogy being the best trilogy, well you may be right about that. Matrix was unbalanced in the sense the first was great and the third was 'ehh'. The Bourne Movies were great, but not nearly the money makers of batman, and some of them ran a little long in parts, and sometimes confusing. LOTR was good, but the third ran 30mins longer than needed(hell they all ran really long). Star wars was great, and thats were people will debate your statement, but none of the last set of star wars films made nothing close to what TDK made.

I will say this though, Christopher Nolan is right now the best director in hollywood and has the highest success rate of films of any director. He hasn't made that dud of a film yet.

Saw Batman on Saturday morning, I loved it. My only wish is that there would have been a movie in between The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, where Batman was in his prime and you saw him cleaning up gotham. Spoilers below so don't read down if you don't want my opinion on some things....





In The Dark Knight, he was almost there....but by the time TDKR, Batman is shot physically and has to rely on gadgets and trickery even more.

Loved the 1st bane fight, i don't know how anybody couldn't. Batman goes in unprepared with no gameplan, Bane dissects him pretty handily. Batman tries his gadgets, they don't work against bane. Plus the music score is haunting and it's very sad to watch as Batman gets angrier and angrier while losing to Bane and you realize it's pretty much hopeless.

I teared up a little bit when Alfred talked about how from the moment he heard Bruce's cries in the house he cared for him and always wanted to watch out for him and keep him safe. The scene at the end with Alfred standing in the graveyard and crying out to Bruce and his parents how he failed them all, it was heartaching to watch. Alfred had gave it all and had nothing left....very emotional moment...

Batman is definitely in my top 3 trilogies ever with Star Wars (original trilogy) and LOTR, with nods to the Indiana Jones (I refuse to acknowledge The Crystal Skull), Toy Story, Matrix, and Back to the Future trilogies.

Christopher Nolan is in the same class as Spielberg IMO now and his track history would speak to back that up with Following and Insomnia being the only movies he's directed that weren't either great movies or instant classics. He's had the good fortune of working with some of the highest calibur actors/actresses out there but he's also written each of his hits, which is almost unheard of now a days. I can't wait to see what he does next.

I only wish there was a true IMAX theater in my area so I could see it properly since almost half the movie was shot using that technology.

As far as the Superman trailer vs what they showed at comic con last week, that trailer was rather dissapointing and just lacked a wow moment. I've never heard a theater during a midnight showing where the first trailer for something along this lines and there was essentially no reaction by the crowd. I actually like the collective group working on it, Nolan involved again, and think this will finally be the first Superman movie where we will see legit fight/action sequences but we shall see in due time.

The great thing about the Alfred scene is that in the very end, Bruce is there just like alfred mentioned earlier in the movie having wine in italy looking over hoping its him with a girlfriend. Just a great way to end it. Also supposedly the reason why nolan ended it like that was because JGL may do batman should there be a justice league movie DC is expected to come out with.[/SIZE]

yes, it was worth it. saw the midnight show, 2 hours sleep before work. saw it again saturday. plan to see it at a 15/70mm imax theater.

Fantastic movie. I think the three movies together are the best set of movies ever made. I struggle to find any other set of movies to even compare. Perhaps the original Star Wars movies but let's be honest...go back and watch those. The stories are great but the movies aren't nearly as good as they are given credit for. Harry Potter maybe is in the ball park.

I found myself leaving the theater terribly disappointed though...knowing there wouldn't be another Nolan Batman makes me sad. The three movies are all in my top 5 movies of all time. I would watch any of them any time. I can say that about maybe 1 or 2 other movies. Shawshank, Usual Suspects...

Ah, well don't be too disappointed about Nolan and Bale no longer doing batman. Highlight the white for a spoiler response/opinion.
[COLOR="White"]Ok so at the end of TDKR when JGL aka John Blake aka Robin goes to discover the batcave that was basically a set up for the justice league movie and left the door open to doing a justice league movie which is a small possibility that Nolan Could direct it, but he did say he's done with the big superhero movies. The Justice league as you know has superman, batman, the flash, wonderwoman, and green lantern. Theres a possibility that they could replace wonderwoman with catwoman.[/COLOR]

I guess I'll be the resident whipping boy here. I thought TDKR is Nolan's worst movie, by far... even moreso than Insomnia. But considering his overall body of work, his worst is still better than the majority of blockbusters out there.

(Major spoilers!!!)

[COLOR="White"]A few WTF moments (I'm so glad ramps are everywhere to save the day), atypically awful Nolan dialogue ("I came back to stop you!") and very uninspired/disjointed editing (bay bomb scene would have been enhanced with quick cuts between Batman's face, Rachel, his parents and Alfred right before the explosion). The score was less effective than TDK's... I think Zimmer's coasting on blaring tones since Inception. I'm sorry, but I was highly disappointed in Bane's death (even though fanboys are arguing whether he died or not)... I'm a big Tom Hardy fan and he was actually a decent villain- but like the final act, his character became derivative and his death was anti-climactic. I've heard the arguments that since this was PG-13, you really can't see Bane getting blown to pieces... whatever, it was a let down.

The Batwing just looked clunky to me... Still enjoyed the Batcycle tons. The one misgiving I had before the movie (Anne Hathaway as Catwoman) actually turned out to be a positive... She had a damn good interpretation, even though I felt her character was fairly unnecessary to the script (beyond saving our hero at the end). Liked the kangaroo court scenes, led by Scarecrow (big Cillian Murphy fan, too). Speaking of great actors, I was happy to see Ben Mendohlson cast as Daggett... too bad the writers didn't take full advantage of his abilities (watch the Aussie flick "Animal Kingdom"). The themes of poverty vs. greed are interesting, especially in these widening times... but the ideas remained undeveloped. [/COLOR]

Maybe my expectations were too high and some may say I should take the movie for what it is. But this isn't the series where you "take it for what it is." I did that for Avengers and actually enjoyed it... BB was a game changer for the genre. TDK was a great first watch experience (I started liking it less with subsequent viewings). I'm probably going to watch TDKR once more when it comes out on blu-ray just to see if I was being too critical. But my initial impression? The execution fell flat for what many consider the darkest part of the story line.
