Vermont Country Store carries them so do some Deli's and smaller grocery stores. They're in a few grocery stores down the shore in NJ. |

My vice, Ricotta Cheese. There aren't many thigs in this world I wouldn't eat it off of. There is a commercial for Galbani Ricotta cheese where the woman sprinkles in Chocolate chips and eats it with a spoon and I almost wet myself. :P

I love hard boiled eggs. I hate having to cook and peel them. Unless you do it perfectly and the eggs cooperate, it takes forever to peel them, and there are craters everywhere.
You can buy them pre-peeled from the grocery store, but they have all those slimy preservatives on it, and they're just not the same. |

Just can’t deal with the texture or smell. Summo, you must be Italian cause I’m just trying to find how someone sits around eating Ricotta like salsa |

Once they come to a boil take it off the heat and cover the pot, let them sit for about 10-12 minutes in the hot water. Then put them into an ice bath for about 5 minutes. The shells should come off nice and easy. It’s also better to use older eggs, ones that are close to the expiration date. |

The bold part I do. But I think I might have pulled them off maybe a minute early before it got to a real full boil. I'll have to try the salt and vinegar part next time tho. Thanks. They are such a handy thing to have around in a pinch, if you can peel them easily. |

Re: Food Vices
Anyone do anything for the game?
Did waygu burgers on grill, good real juicy. At $7.99/lb it was a good deal. Doing alot of zucchini or squash on grill. Always corn. |
Re: Food Vices
Didn't do anything for the game, but had t-bone steak, baby potatoes, and green beans last night. That was damn good. Green beans are my new favorite vegetable.

I used to love a t bone or a NY but now .. its all either rib eye or waygu sirloin. Bought some portabella mushroom from farmers market this weekend and didnt know how to store them so i kept them in a closed brown paper bag .. opened it this morning and theres a huge thick white blanket of mold life tip - wash and store mushrooms properly after buying from farmers market? .. $8 in the trash can |

But the price was too good to pass up on the t-bones this time around. It's the worst when food gets wasted. I feel your frustration. |

Re: Food Vices
Changing up the way I do fried chicken/cutlets.
wet dredge of heavy cream and eggs then almond flour w crushed up pork rinds and seasonings ---------- wegmans charcoal -- DO NOT BUY, produces a mid to low heat, I had to use twice as many coals as usual second time around to get any type of sear. Kingsford - its they brand for a reason. so reliable |

Just now seeing this thread, LOVE IT! After marrying right the 2nd time around, I dove into cooking for the family about 8 years ago. Always on the lookout for new ways to try different foods. Currently building an outdoor kitchen and have all kinds of grills.
With the start of football season upon us, can't go wrong with wings. What is everyone's favorite way to fix their own wings? |

I buy the full wings in the big pack at Kroger fresh not frozen…make the 2 cuts…use a rub with lil olive oil to apply to chicken…charcoal bullet smoker with mesquite/oak…2 hours 230 and then run them hot to finish and crisp them. The smoke and heat will dry them out so you gotta watch it, but I like them crispy. My rubs I’ve always used for smoking are from Oak Ridge BBQ which are now on Amazon. |

They were kinda crispy (not like deep fried though) but they were so juicy and tender, the flavor was awesome. We got the Cuisinart Air Fryer with the racks you can take in and out from Costco...really nice. |

Maybe on fried ice cream...but certainly wouldn't think it would work on chicken. |
Re: Food Vices
For fried chicken, frosted flakes would work and Id def try it. I like to do batches anyway. one spicy w lots of cayenne, one traditional
we do fried chicken and waffles, honey on fried chicken is the best ----------- We air fry our wings, so easy quick clean up. do the basic google instructions ... 6 mins at 350, flip, 6 mins at 350 flip .. then do it at like 440 for 4 mins to crisp them up good Ive never done a wet dredge like for fried chicken in an air fryer though, id be worried |

I buy store made fresh dough .. I make homemade dough ... I have the cornmeal on my large board, I proof it, I do everything the internet suggests .. and I can never have it spread out evenly on my pizza stone. Easiest for me is just buying the pillsbury dough as it rolls out kinda flat. But that doesnt taste that great. -- maybe this thick detroit style where there is no stone but a deep pan will make it easier |

Re: Food Vices
I'm down 10 lbs in the last month, just been counting calories and trying to clean up my diet, and definitely drinking less. In fact I'm going to do a sober October. Dry January went easier than I thought so I figure why not give the liver another extended rest before the holidays

No alcohol is the way to go if trying to lose weight. Way easier to not make bad dietary decisions when sober. |
Re: Food Vices
Ive been drinking lo carb beers past few months and did some keto diet stuff (hence pork rinds instead of bread crumbs for fried chicken)
and it helps. Counting carbs is crazy eye opening. 15 net cards in just 10 tortilla chips? 26 carbs in an 8 oz glass of apple juice? 14.6 carbs in in 12 oz bottle of sierra nevada pale ale? 45 grams of carbs in 1 cup of rice ... pork rinds? 0 carbs day time laguinitas? 3 carbs its hard to get that cava or chipotle without the rice or burrito wrap but so many carbs in a kinda neutral flavor food. Skip the rice, get double meat and drink your lo carb beer without regerts |

A can of chili threw me for a loop. 540 calories. 18 grams of fat and 48 non-fiber carbs. Shit is terrible for you. How is the Day Time? I've seen it around, but haven't had it yet. I like the Kona Light Blonde Ale from Kona Brewing Co. |
Re: Food Vices
Day time is good .. for a lo cal. I have 2 drinking nights a week. I drink a sixer of it on a work night and then a sixer/4 pack of something tasty (other half/aslin/elder pine etc) on Saturday nights.
Made chicken kabobs last night and decided to try ground sausage kabobs bc I couldnt find ground lamb ... i put way too much salt in the pork kabobs. I have to stop using course kosher salt for recipes, save that stuff for brining |
