Me too MC, I went to CLE last month and their fans are so supportive of the team kinda like we are for the skins.
Browns are my secret affair. They've suffered like us for DECADES, except we have Super Bowl rings. Nothing pissed me off more after seeing how Ravens fans got after the damn Browns/Ravens won two Super Bowls.
Always want them to win. Just SUUUUUCH a futile franchise.
And perhaps at their lowest point. In the past they could make quality hires (yet remain bad). Now quality coaches want nothing to do with them. |
Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
Yeah, I secretly always wanted to Browns to succeed! Loved seeing Kosar, Slaughter, and Mack play. They were so close yet never could get to the big game!
|
Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
Yeah Im not really rooting for the Browns after how they handle and treated CHUD like that. POS in that FO and a POS owner. I feel bad for the fans, but im not pulling for the Browns

I'd bet Sherman would say he was just being a good sport when he asked Tom Brady 'You mad bro?!?' also. I'll wait to hear the mic'd up version of what he said because 'Good game' can have many tones, inflections and levels of sarcasm. |

Crabtree is, in fact, not a bum. 85-1105-9 is actually pretty good. In my opinion, he's a great WR with a sub-par QB throwing him the ball. Richard Sherman, now, is a f****** a**hole, and I hope Peyton Manning and his WRs light that Seattle defense up in the Super Bowl. If Denver wins by less than 35, I'll be disappointed. |
Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
I give Richard Sherman credit. I think he IS the best corner in the league. He talks a lot of smack, but he backs it up with his play on the field. I'd love to have someone on the 'skins defense with his talent.
With that said, here are things that Sherman apologists have used as reasons for agreeing with his behavior: 1) Sherman was interviewed during the "heat of the moment! His team just won the NFC Championship and is going to the Super Bowl. Sherman is going to be pumped up!" OK. How about all the players who have come before him, who have played in the Super Bowl, who were interviewed during the "heat of the moment" and were very professional during their after game interviews? Sorry, that excuse doesn't fly. 2) Crabtree started the whole thing. So what? Who care's? Maturity is letting it roll off of you an moving on. Sherman is talented enough to let his play on his field speak for him. He doesn't need to flap his gums. 3) Sherman is a Stanford grad, how can he be called a thug? Since when does book smarts cancel out commonsense? I know plenty of people who graduated at the top of their class that has failed at life because they have no commonsense. And who's to say it was all Richard Sherman? Maybe it was, and maybe it was all of his tutors? We don't know the real story behind his education. All we know is, he doesn't appear to be representing Stanford with the highest of maturity level. |

He's not worth that high pick, he's had one good year and yes CK is a very avg passer I agree |
Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
crabtree is a great WR. his college numbers were ridiculous, and i'm sure (barring injury problems) his career will bear that out.
|
Idk he avg like 50 catches a yr and only has 22 tds. He's been in the league a while now

For me, there's just no excusing that kind of behavior. Before Revis's injury, HE was the best corner in the league, but what did he do? Go out and make plays. For Sherman, it's definitely "where there's smoke, there's fire" situation. He's constantly, CONSTANTLY around controversy whether it be someone punching him in the face, someone getting up in his face, or running his mouth at the end of a game. I'm positive Crabtree isn't the innocent victim in this, but hey, after being interviewed, he said, "He's a TV guy, that ain't me." I'm just ultra bothered by how the FIRST THING he said when interviewed was that he was the best in the NFL. HE was, not the pass rush that helped him, hell, NOT EVEN THE GUY WHO CAUGHT THE DAMN INT. Sure, he back-peddled and did some damage control giving credit to his teammates, blah blah blah, but when I see a me-first player, it's always going to be obvious. Regardless of talent, he's not someone I'd want on this team. Deion was a damn Teletubby compared to him and even with the promise of Deion prior to the 2000 debacle, I was not going to cheer for someone like that. A ton of people applaud his "confidence", and sure the Skins have people who will do a gesture here and there after a play, but I've never seen anyone to his level in years (if ever). Just a total piece of work. I hope the Broncos eat his ass alive. |

Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
If Sherman were a Redskin we'd all love the guy. Dexter did the same kind thing stuff, although not to Sherman's level. Plus sticking a microphone in front of a player after an emotional game is stupid.

Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
I thought this was interesting driving into work today. I caught Mary Kay Cabot on the Dan Patrick show who covers the Browns for the Plain Dealer paper, which she's done for a long time apparently. All her responses to Dan's questions about the coaching search and front office were well thought out and gave a good perspective of the whys and hows for the front office actions. Not only that, but her responses were positive about the situation and still neutral in her personal opinion of the FO. I rarely hear that these days from the media, and I listen carefully. I was very impressed. The entire DC media could take a lesson from her and Cleveland situation seem much much worse.

Wow didnt know that. Usually if ESPN is associated in any way with a DP guest, Dan takes his customary and a bit obnoxious mothership shots. |

No, I'd still think he's trash. I guess you liked Michael Westbrook too. |
Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
Sherman's a classless idiot. He's talented, to be sure, but a complete jerk. I hope Peyton lights him up for 5 TDs.
Let's not forget the trash-talking that inspired TW to smack him in the mouth after last year's wild card game. I dislike the Seahawks a lot. |

Oh, I definitely agree. I would love to have someone who was AS talented as Sherman on the field, but not Sherman. I think in time, he'll prove to be a cancer. |

I am failing to see what Sherman did that is sooooooo bad

Speak for yourself. I will resent the very day Richard Sherman dawns the burgundy and gold. I can't stand the guy and I don't care how much talent he has. He's straight up another Terrell Owens - magnified by ten. He will, in time, show himself to be a cancer to whatever locker room he's in. Lastly, I don't buy the "sticking a microphone in front of a player after an emotional game" excuse. There are plenty of players who have been interviewed after an emotional game who don't cut childish wrestling promos like they're Hulk Hogan. Sherman has showed himself on many occasions. Even after he had "calmed down" and had post game conferences, he still showed his lack of class and immaturity, albeit he wasn't yelling. He's a low life and will continue to act that way until someone really punches his clock (I mean worse than Trent Williams) and he'll keep his flappy gums shut. |

If he were a Redskin you'd be all over him saying he should just shut up and play. |

I don't mind the smack talk, actually I enjoy. Dexter did it all the time and he's one of my favorites. Just back it up on the field. Hall use to do it, he would get lit up and wouldn't tackle anyone. Big difference. |
Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
The only thing that bothers me about Sherman is his constant need to tell everyone he's the best. That shit is annoying. Just let your play speak for itself. But all the other stuff I find quite entertaining. He's not a thug or a bad guy as pretty much everyone that's played or coached w/ him talk nothing but good things. That simply wasn't the case with Terrell Owens.

Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
I think Sherman is the perfect ying to Russel Wilson yang on that team. Hes the outspoken, swagged out, emotional leader of the defense, Wilson is the quiet confident, clutch leader on offense. Folks its working for them.
Please, dont tell me you wouldnt want the best corner in the league in a Skins uni, who balls every week, makes the play that sends your team to the superbowl.....AND THE ABSOLUTE BEST THING EVER, GOT IN TOM BRADY"S FACE after BRADY talked shit to Sherman during the game, and Sherm came up with the win. Yeah the post game interview was a little over the top, but you gotta consider the Circumstances and all. You would think he killed 3 babies with the way some people talk. |
Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
I keep hearing about his Stanford education. Stanford's star LB was arrested for DUI last year.
Sherman also failed a PED test but had it overturned on a technicality about how his urine sample was handled, not because he was proven innocent. The cup leaked and the tech transferred it to another cup...that was enough to get out of it for Sherman. The name on your degree does not make you smart or even a good person. Case in point, the President went to Harvard. |

If he were a Redskin, I would love him. To me talking trash and acting like a moron every now and then is a part of being a person and an athlete. He has a personality, but lets not act like he is T.O. in San Fran like some here are. I have yet to hear his teammates say they hate playing with him. |

Really? The Seahawks fan I work with immediately brought up the same thing..."but he's a Stanford thug!" is an exact quote.

Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
I'm not sure why people care so much about the Sherman thing. Outside of Crabtree and his teammates/family there is no reason to take what he said personally.
And isn't a thug a criminal? Why is he being called a thug? |
