Re: Your Opinion on Facebook
Matty threw this little video together as a little token of his appreciation for Facebook:

Re: Your Opinion on Facebook
I also dislike facebook greatly. I have an account with a picture and some basic info for the rare occassion an old friend wants to get in touch. I login once every 4 or so months to check my requests/etc. I dislike their stance on security and privacy. I understand that my personal data will be used to sell advertising -- that's fine, you have to make money. But the way they're getting into the photo recognition and selling that info complete with geotags, etc makes me nervous.
We're going to see facebooks decline in the near future. When my grandma friend requests me, a technology is pretty much dead. The younger generation is already moving away from it seeing the 'trouble' it has caused for their siblings/etc. I loved facebook when you needed a .edu address to get an account. It was perfect for staying in touch with everyone that went to different schools. Now it's filled with religious and political propoganda (on both sides) that I don't want to deal with while online. |
Re: Your Opinion on Facebook
They also have shareholders to please now...so it's going to be a "screw the users, we're doing this for the profits" approach from here out.
I'd get ready for security features you don't like, selling of your identity and probably a ton of ads plus new features you have to pay for. Look at how quickly Facebook replaced Myspace. Facebook will go down too. So, gee, lets buy some stock in it! |
Re: Your Opinion on Facebook
For what its worth my 11yo daughter is begging for a FB account. Ain't happening I keep telling her.

Re: Your Opinion on Facebook
I think Facebook's strongest aspect is the Groups feature. We have a trail runners group of about 200 people that share race info, training schedules, medical issues, nutrition, etc all on a local level. I also post my Runkeeper activities because a few people told me it keeps them a bit motivated to go out and run when they didn't want to that day.
However, if you have to start paying for anything then I'm out. |
Re: Your Opinion on Facebook
well, my high school reunion and whatnot were pretty much done through facebook. it's great for seeing people you havent seen in 10 years or figuring out who's hanging out in maine next week when you're stopping in...

My first "experience" w/ Facebook years ago convinced me it wasn't worth the nonsense. A business associate I barely knew contacted me after seeing pictures on Facebook of me boating w/ a girl he liked (actually there was at least a dozen of us boating). He's old enough to be her father and it creeped all of us out. I guess "trolling" around Facebook is a common thing for creepers. Anyway, the whole thing turned me away from it...looks like things may trend back my direction now after all eh? |
Re: Your Opinion on Facebook
Ah, so no problem with women raping young boys, but creeping on FB is a problem?
Makes sense. |

Re: Your Opinion on Facebook
I thought about it, and what's an old man doing with a Mac?

...think about it man.[/quote] I don't know what's more disturbing. The fact he's trolling facebook or the fact you know what he's wearing. |
Re: Your Opinion on Facebook
If anyone needs some good music to troll on FB too, HMU. I got you covered:
