Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
If I'm correct, he was regarded more as a 4-3 DE than a 3-4 OLB, but he has the size and speed and now Lou Spanos as a position coach.
Jeremy Jarmon: 6-3, 277 lbs, 4.71 DeMarcus Ware: 6-4, 262lbs, 4.6 It's also only been one season. I think Jarmon was a good pick-up last year. Plus, if he was in the draft this year I think he would easily go in the 2nd rd.
I'll see if I can get a hold of Kiper Jr. to see what he thinks about Jarmon's value in this year's draft. I've been playing these converted DEs as LBs and they don't have the agility to cover anybody on Madden. We'll look like we're defending the endzone on every play with 7 DLs! Ha! |

I'm not saying he won't, I'm just saying "if." They say he's lost weight from the 277 lbs. you mentioned. Maybe he'll gain speed from the weight loss. |
That would be something I'd be VERY interested to hear. Now that I think about it Scouts Inc most likely gave Jarmon a grade last year so that should give us an idea of his overall value as a prospect. |
Jarmon Evaluation
Bastard McShay didn't give him a final overall grade:

Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
With Orakpo saying that he will be playing mostly on the right side at OLB (via an interview), it looks like Jarmon may work out well playing on the left side OLB. The grading from Scouts Inc., shown by Dirtbag, seems to support the transition.

I honestly don't get this move. Why are we trading for other teams' 1st round draft busts? Because Haslett is familiar with him? That's it?

He's not your typical first round bust. From what I hear he has a very prototypical skillset to be a 3-4 DE, and the good news is this time around people won't ask him to get a bunch of sacks to be considered productive rather he'll be asked to distract blockers, play hard against the run, and get a strong push inside on passing downs, all task he's capable of performing.
2009 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc. Grade: 70 | Key Comment: Carriker suffered an ankle injury last season and was moved from NT to UT where he could be a better fit going forward. Carriker has good size and strength with good quickness. He can be physical playing the run. He has enough strength to control the center and keep LBs free from behind. He reacts well and shows good effort and toughness. He is quick enough to penetrate and disrupt blocking schemes but tends to play slightly upright where he can get washed inside at times. Athletically he has good agility. He can sink his weight and locate the ball quick inside. As a pass rusher he is active inside but needs to refine his up field moves. He can create the inside push when he reverts to the power rush but is missing the quick burst to clear at this time. His ability to combine his moves needs developing. Overall, an active, intense player inside whose second season production was affected by injury during the year.
|

I think he will make a solid 5 tech.

He fills a need, he comes for basically peanuts, and by all accounts he'll finally play in a system that suits him as a player. What else is there to get? |

Okay, that's somewhat encouraging. Probably wasn't scouted properly, or perhaps was a reach. He's just one of those DEs you can't have any expectation of getting to the quarterback -- basically like Philip Daniels. |

I have no problem with that, but with AH at RDE most QB's blindside you know he's getting to the QB and when he get's double & tripple teamed Carriker will get some sacks as will the NT. HTTR. |
Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
Put him beside RAK, i think he'll be ok

Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
I still want more draft picks.

Re: Redskins Send 5th Rounder to Rams for Carriker and a 5th (Swap 7ths)
well maybe shanny can tell him that if he gets more than 2 sacks something is wrong

Low risk move, don't see what's to hate here
