What did Zorn say about Portis that was so bad that warranted what Portis did? He was asked why Portis didn't play in the second half and he answered honestly. He didn't go out of his way to say anything about Portis and what he said was the truth according to him. The fact was that they were down 17-0 and he felt maybe Betts was better prepared since Betts had actually practiced all week with the first team offense and attended all the meetings. Sorry but that doesn't warrant a personal attack by Portis. If he can't handle that reply from Zorn then he sure couldn't play for Cowher who people here seem to be so high on and who would not put up with his egocentric attitude. He would be riding the pine this week if he had pulled that with Cowher.
i agree with everything except portis wouldnt be riding the pine, cowhers chin would grow a fist and clock CP. that or cowher would walk up to cp with that great "furious" look he has with veins popping and pulsating from his forehead and portis would be calling everyone and the ball boy "sir" for a few weeks.

this offseason when things are slow we should do a top ten best "coach's faces" thread with pics.

Ya Cowher's head looked like it was ready to explode at any minute when he would get that irrate on the sidelines. I have never seen veins stick out so much as they did on him.

I hate to be an a-hole but Portis has more than earned the right to air his stuff out. I imagine he had something to say during the game, not just after it.

"Zorn said Portis' lack of practice was starting to reflect in the running back's performance -- particularly in the passing game. So the coach went with backups Ladell Betts and Mike Sellers."

What do you expect? He's getting beat the hell up, he needs to rest, he shows up on Sundays where a lot of guys wouldn't. Portis is the light at the end of the tunnel when it comes down to it. Anyone who's highly competitive and good at what they do will have severe frustrations when things aren't going right.. and he's FAR from a T.O., faaaarrrrrr from it. So yeah, these issues should be channeled correctly, but knowing that someone is genuinely frustrated and wants even more of a load on their shoulders, that's refreshing. Oh well, he called out coach, it's not Gibbs.. it's not a "good ol boy" league anymore, we're lucky that Portis still calls himself a Redskins and wants to stay with us, will restructure, etc.. The boy deserves a ring.

So Portis has earned the right to be selfish and be a distraction to the team now? Give me a freakin break. It's not about Portis it's about the TEAM. Anyone else pulls the shit he does they're riding the pine until they're shipped out. Portis is a warrior but he'll throw his teammates or coach under the bus if he does'nt feel like he's getting enough attention. I love the way the guy plays but undermining the coaches decisions and authority in public is hardly contributing to the success of the team. He seems to forget that we did pretty well without him when he was hurt a couple of years ago and Betts took his place. He's a great player but he's not indispensable. I'd like to see what we could get for him in trade while he's hot to be honest. He's been treated like a prima donna since he's been here and he probably has less to complain about than any other player. We laugh at T.O. when he pulls this kind of crap and it's okay for Portis? Get real.

Well obviously I wasn't speaking of just releasing him. I would be curious to see what OFFERS we would get.

Venting to his coach privately and taking his frustrations to the media are totally different.

Imature move on CPs part..... man up and play the game.

But, from what I understand, Zorn didn't talk to Portis about why he was sitting out the second half before he told the media on Monday. So neither one handled this the right way.

And we know what that means.

Not gonna happen.

Zorn "telling the media" is so overblown.... he answered a question. He answered in a way that was not even close to as unprofessional as CP's rant on the radio.

BOTTOM LINE
team dirty laundry does not get aired publicly. That makes us the Cowboys, Cincy, etc.
Bad form CP.........
If he thought JZ did him dirty, go to Coach. Anybody who has played team sports at any level understands this.
I'll still hug his neck for being a gamer........but bad form

Zorn would definitely benefit by taking a page from Gibbs and learning when to not be quite so open with the media. On the surface some of his comments might not seem that damaging, but there are subtle things that players don't appreciate even if the intent is not there to insult that player.

He doesn't have to answer every question. He can say something as vague as both players are very valuable to our team and we expect that Clinton will continue to be a big part of our offense moving forward. And if pressed, Clinton and I have not had a chance to sit down and talk, but I want to talk with him first.
