I love Lavar, but I love the Redskins more. I still think he can come back and be a great player for us and just wish we do not have to keep going through this ordeal. I agree that the damn media is really doing a number on us all and making us think one thing when the truth maybe the exact opposite. I'm just ticked that all of this is coming a few days before our last (and most important) regular season game. Let's just forget about all this and take things as they come. If we have him, great. If not, its no question that he would be missed but what can you do?

I don't think it is Lavar vs. The redskins
It might be lavar vs. Snyder but not the redskins.

I love the skins more too but sinse he isn't against them I am still on Lavar's side.

Lavar is just worried thats all. he is worried that he won't be with his favorite fans and his favorite team. He feels he will be gone

I didn't quite mean that Lavar was going against the redskins. What I meant was that if him being here hurt the team, then I would rather not have him around.

There's not even any point in discussing whether or not LaVar will be here next year. He's done as a Redskin. Everyone is making a very valid point about how it's cheaper to keep him, but when has dead cap space ever been a concern in Washington? Deion Sanders, Jeff George, Stephen Davis, Jeremiah Trotter, Laverneus Coles... any of those names ring a bell? Snyder could care less about dead cap money, especially when he's being called out by a player on his team.

So yes, LaVar will be gone after this season, and everyone will turn on him for wanting out of possibly the worst run team in the league(I'm talking about the front office, not the coaching staff), just like we turned on Champ Bailey, Fred Smoot, Antonio Pierce, and every other standout player who has left for valid reasons. And five years down the road, when the same thing has happened to Brunell, and probably Portis and Taylor, I'm sure we'll all have turned on them by then too. That's just the way we do it in Washington.

I Agree. Lavar is done in Washington, unless he does some miracle stuff in the next game and the playoffs. He is no favorite to the Dan.

I've been in my present position 34 yrs. I say a lot of things about my organization all of the time. Mostly disparaging.

No microphones record my every word, and I spew a lot of words!

Is it a distraction to anyone else near me, or who works with me? No!

Will I still want to retire in the near future from this organization? Yes!

Will I still talk it down to a degreee? Yes.

So what! Let's move on.

If you can't talk about who/what you work for, how they treat you, just what are you going to talk about?

A "We Want Philly" smilie needed here!

Well, how and what we say about our organizations and what a public figure says about her/his organization are like comparing apples and oranges, in my opinion. When we complain, it's pretty much contained within that office. When an athlete, in a team sport mind you, isn't happy and voices unhappiness publicly it has the potential to be much, much more disruptive and destructive.

I think LaVar, regardless of his intentions, should have just kept quiet until the season was over.

I think he handled getting benched this season with grace. He didn't portray himself as a victim or attack Greg Williams and Gibbs, but instead went into the film room, studied, and got better.

Seems to me like just shutting up and playing is what he's trying to do with this current situation.

I guess you forgot about this earlier in the year, it's a stretch to say he handled everything with grace and didn't have anything to say about it in the media:

"The worst part of this whole situation is people start trying to tag you for your character," Arrington said. "This is football, and if you want to talk about me not playing or different things like that, that's fine. But don't attack my character. I try to be a good person. I try not to do things that won't cause trouble or anything like that and just keep it on the football thing.

"If I'm not playing, then I'm not playing, and it's something I'm sure the coaches will address. I think the thing that bothers me is that people attack my character and attack who I am as a person. Of course, life isn't fair, but I don't think that's fair at all. That's strange."

http://www.thewarpath.net/showthread.php?t=8474

"I've put myself in the doghouse somehow," Washington Redskins linebacker LaVar Arrington has no idea why he's not playing and vehemently disagreed with defensive coordinator Gregg Williams's assertion last week that players who want to be on the field Sunday "have to do it in practice."

As for now, if he was just shutting up and playing as you say, why is he discussing his future right before a HUGE game in the papers?? Seems to me if he was just shutting up and playing, we wouldn't be discussing this right now.

Look, I love LaVar and I definitely want him here. But at the same time his repeated spouting off in the papers is whats going to get him run out of town if that does indeed happen this offseason.

I could not agree more with the comments above he made and the horrible timing. I love Lavar as a player and the excitement he brings to watching the game when he is in, but him worried that Snyder/management does not talk with him or treat him like he does other players is kind of silly. You are paid a wealthy sum of money to play not be liked by management. Lavar gets so caught up in what the media prints and takes it to heart that it is the truth and going to happen. He recites or paraphrases in many of his outburst what people think of him that is in the papers or on the news. I know this is new to him being on the negative side of some of the prints in the paper this year, but he needs to step his professionalism up and stop taking things so personal. Look at Ramsey who handled his situation which was much harder to handle than Snyder not liking you or feeling appreciated. Look at the D-Line, Daniels who has just been bashed in the media for his lack of play and overall weakness as a unit, he stepped up his play and is getting praise. Walt Harris continually on the negative side of the media, but when it has counted stepped up and made key plays. What is common with all these other players is they handled the situations professionally. Warrick Holdman have you seen anything in the papers with him bashing Lavar and the coaching staff for benching him. For Lavar to remain he is going to have to practice what he preaches and stop with the me, me, me cry and bitch sessions to the media. Before it was tired of losing (they are winning and on the verge of a playoff appearance his first), next he faulted the organization for handling his injury poorly and rushing him back ( he wanted to rush and get back, not the org wanting him to rush back last year, next it was contract issues (his agents messed it up, Gibbs tried to quickly put it behind them), next it was his lack of playing time (he is playing quite a bit except on third down and contributing heavily and the organization now being cautious about rushing him back from injury), now it is management and Redskins do not want him anymore, not feeling the love. It is unbelievable and Lavar needs to stop feeding his emotions off the media, and other peoples opinions of why he is in situations that he is in. Lavar comparing the current Redskins under Gibbs/Snyder era to the previous five years is ridiculous. Smoot and Pierce were wanted by the skins, but they are not going to hurt the organization by breaking the bank under Gibbs, why would you pay Smoot more than Shawn Springs, bringing in Springs for Bailey paid Divedends in the cap at a much cheaper rate and he is shut down. Ridiculous to say I've seen what they did to previous players Coles asked to be gone, gladly we don't need that here he did it to himself and suffering in NY this year. Lavar keep quiet and stop reading the papers and watching the news when sports comes on.
