Do you remember what the details were on his contract?
Hopefully he wont be asking for a new one anytime soon.
Straight from Canuck's cap sheets
7 years/$31.05M/$3M SB/$910K RB in 2006/$7M SB in 2006
An absolute steal
skinsguy 12-29-2005, 01:14 PM If you watch some old tapes of Ricky Sanders, they're alot alike. Ricky had amazing speed and some sick moves... but he was just never featured as a number 1 reciever and used to the extent that moss was, because IMHO we had a better corps of complimentary recievers.
Can't argue with that. Gary Clark and Art Monk. In any given game, any one of those guys could be considered a #1 guy. I always thought of Clark being #1 because of his homerun ability, followed by Art Monk and Ricky Sanders being the #3 receiver.
redskinsskickazz 12-29-2005, 06:22 PM im not saying that coles is as good or better than moss but too many people forgot so quickly that we are a much better team than we were last year and the jets are much worse, and not because of this trade. that in itself is going to make moss look better and coles look worse.
SanFranSkinsFan 12-30-2005, 04:02 AM Even if Coles was 100% healthy I don't think he could do what Moss has done under similar circumstances.
Moss is much quicker, faster, has better hands, runs sharper routes, etc.
Coles may have good straight line speed, but I've never seen anyone in a Redskins uniform make the moves that Moss makes.
How many WR screens has he broken for big gains this year??
We threw the same screens to Coles last year and I don't recall him breaking any for big gains.
Absolutely. It's hard to compare a TE to a WR, but obviously Santana Claus is much better than L. Coles, who refused to have toe surgery, he still hasn't had it, and he's not as fast as he used to be. Cooley is in the Top 10 in NFC receivers, with 2 more TDs and no LB can cover him. You have to rate him in the top tier TEs in the league, behind Gates and Heap. I would rather have him than Shockey for his consistency and instincs and Gonzalez doesn't catch TDs anymore. Our foes have to double Santana but Cooley can run through guys. Coles and Gardner are hacks and didn't want to be here. Wasn't Cooley a 3rd round draft pick, too? We like the U, not FSU (see Portis, Moss, S. Taylor). Cooley.
NM Redskin 12-30-2005, 07:18 AM Cooley stats even look pretty good against Randy Moss....889 and 6 tds for Moss and 766 adn 7 tdsfor the Coolanator. Heck he's right there with Heap, Gonzo and Crumpler in yards and has more tds then Crump and Gonzo. In his second YEAR! Go Cooley, Go Cooley.
lifetimeskin 12-30-2005, 11:54 AM There is no doubting that Moss is a serious scare to our competition. They MUST double him or risk being "allaned". Having said that, we are extremely thin at the WR position...
1. Moss
2. Patten
3. Trash
4. Jacobs
5. Brown
6. Farris
I will give Patten a pass this year, due to injury. But Trash, is getting old, Jacobs is a bust (how many years now?) ,Brown is not consistent, and Farris is just too much of an uknown.
We need serious upgrading on WR 3-4, that will allow our current 3-4 to move to 5-6. I am just disgusted with Jacobs. I have read here before that Brunnel won't throw to him. Brunnel just doesn't trust him. (period) Jacobs has to earn that respect from Brunnel.
We don't need a major overhaul here. We just need to improve our depth. If we cut Farris and Jacobs, that opens up 2 positions, maybe one for a draft choice, and one for a FA.
my 2 cents.....

dmek25 12-30-2005, 02:38 PM when coles first came into the league ,he burned up the combine 40 time around 4.2 i think that toe injury is a bigger issue than he lets on.why in the world doesnt he get it taken care of?

I like Coles a lot, I don't think we was as productive as Moss, but he worked hard while he was here. He has had some bad quarterback experiences over the last couple years, but his performance with Pennington the last year he was healthy and the first year he was was Washington earns him some credit.
Sometimes I wonder if the toe surgery has some type of weird side effect, like losing your toe or if it isn't curable anyway.
