How Hurt Do You Think Brunell Is?MTK 12-27-2005, 11:37 AM Matty, are you available if called upon? Hell yeah, just put me in coach! Hog1 12-27-2005, 11:49 AM 90,000 rabid, screaming fans chanting in unison.....................MATTYK72............... .........it has a certain ring-yea right offiss 12-27-2005, 04:17 PM If he starts, I hope this does happen. Heck, if he leads this team all the way to a Super Bowl victory, even better! I believe it comes down to how well Ramsey can improvise. In our opening scoring drive, Brunell had to improvise a couple times (the scramble for a first down and the last minute shovel pass to Royal) in order to keep the drive alive. It remains to be seen if Ramsey has that same presence in mind to improvise when things break down. I believe those things are aspects of a long time veteran quarterback. Yes Brunell can bail a play out on occasion with his legs, but Ramsey can Bail a play out with his arm, some of those Brunell scrambles are a result of his inability to get the ball deep downfield, or inability to provide enough arm strength to squeeze a ball into a tight spot 20 yards downfield. I think those are the intagables that Ramsey will bring to the table to offset his lack of ability to run. We will see plays that brunell would have ran and made a first down when Ramsey does not, but we will also see plays in which Ramsey hits big plays downfield in which Brunell would not. I know Ramsey does not have Brunells legs, but I also think he's a little faster than he's givin credit. I believe in him as well. To date, those attributes have not been seen on a consistent basis or have been accompanied by other negative traits and/or results. He did have a big part in the Giant win in relief for Brunell. I am damn glad to have him, as are all Skins fans. You speak several times in the post that you "think" Patrick can so this or that. The difference with that line of thought and Brunell, is Brunell "has" demonstrated week after week that he can deliver those things. I'm not sure the big deal with Brunell and the long ball, as he has burned teams weekly with just that! Brunell has the team on the verge of something we have ALL waited for a long, long time. Patrick may be a different more mature QB than he was at the beginning of the year. Now is not the time to risk what might be as we ALREADY have, what is in hand. Not a good decision, even for a Ramsey Homer. skinsguy 12-27-2005, 06:00 PM I feel confident that Patrick "can" do the things you suggest in your post. I believe in him as well. However, I KNOW what Brunell can do to improvise - and that comes by having years of experience in the NFL. You don't have to have a strong arm to improvise nor do you have to have a strong arm to make a big play. Case in point, the shovel pass to Royal and everybody's favorite little hitch pass to Moss that went for a TD. 12thMan 12-27-2005, 06:03 PM Hell yeah, just put me in coach! thatsa my boy! offiss 12-27-2005, 06:14 PM All I can say is this, because Ramsey hasen't played everyone believes he is incapable of outperforming Brunell, or at least playing as well, we are very close to finding out otherwise, if Patrick gets a real chance he's going to prove he's far better than most gave him credit for. My concern at this point in the season is, regardless of whether or not he will prove to be a better QB for us than Brunell, he hasen't played, and hasen't had the opportunity to develope that special relationship and continuity with his recievers, which can make for a costly play this late in the season, Brunell is more aware at this point than Patrick, as I said in another post Brunell should be the man, this is his season, if healthy he has to finish it, and there is no doubt that if healthy Gibbs will do exactly that regardless of what Ramsey may do if he plays against Philli. firstdown 12-27-2005, 06:23 PM Right now I'm just glad to have both QB's on this team. It was big for Ramsey to step in and drive us down for two scores which was the margin of victory. Brunell is our starter and will be if helthy enough to play. Its nice to know that we have a BU that could start for alot of teams in this league. We can argue back and forth all day but lets face it we are arguing a positive for this team right now and alot of teams would like to have our talent on the bench. hail2skins 12-27-2005, 07:04 PM According to the Wash Post, there is no structural damage and Gibbs believes he'll play. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/26/AR2005122600679.html skinsguy 12-27-2005, 11:01 PM All I can say is this, because Ramsey hasen't played everyone believes he is incapable of outperforming Brunell, or at least playing as well, we are very close to finding out otherwise, if Patrick gets a real chance he's going to prove he's far better than most gave him credit for. Nobody said Ramsey is incapable of outperforming Brunell, but if Brunell is healthy, you don't stick Ramsey in at this point just to see if he can out perform Brunell....that is what preseason is for. As said before, we know what Brunell is capable of, and a proven veteran is always better to turn to than someone who might be capable of the same performance. |
