Someone over at Extreme reminded me of this game. The conditions are somewhat similar this year. More than anything though, it's another one of those underappreciated moments in Gibbs career. A good read for anyone who still has doubts as to why he is so loved among so many of us Redskins fans.

I think the bigger the game the better prepared Redskins' teams tend to be.
To me, Gibbs' greatest quality as a coach is his ability to prepare his teams for big games. I'm talking playoff ready, if you will.
Someone once asked Gregg Williams to use one word that best described Joe Gibbs and he said, "prideful". I think that pretty much sums up this weekend's game.
Gibbs' teams are always well prepared, but I think when he gets a 2nd shot at a team that's even more to his advantage. Especially coming off a 36-0 embarrassment. The Skins are gonna be extra jacked up come Saturday with revenge on their minds. Gibbs and this staff won't let them forget what happened the first time around.

That along with the fact we had no defensive players voted to the Pro-Bowl will add a little more fuel to the fire.
Thanks for posting this! I remember that game against Philly. The rematch was truly great moment in Redskins history. It was also one of the few times I know of that Gibbs let his anger really show through.
My guess is that this team will be as ready for this game as the Skins were for that rematch. I only wish I could be there. Those of you who have the chance to go have to turn out in force and really blanket that stadium in wall-to-wall noise!

awesome read,it sums up what the man stands for and how his players felt about going to war with him.the body bag game and buddy ryans smartass lip got him in trouble did it not, lol.that day when he retired from the redskins i cried a river with him as well.but once he moved on and formed his own raceteam i moved on with him and look what that did for him and his family.he won three cup titles in the process and now things have come full circle with joe coming back to the redskins in 2004. he,s a true redskin and faith brought him back and i,m tickled to death to see him back where he truly belongs.
now if dan can just stay in the background and keep his willingness to do whatever it takes to get the players and coaches he needs, then he might end up with a superbowl ring on his finger. awesome article.
very good read indeed. brought back some warm feelings.

Great article - thanks for posting it.
I just hope our guys are as pissed off about our 36-0 humiliation as they were about the "Body Bag Game."
Maybe getting the Giants to say something nasty to us would help?

Thank you TAFKAS!
A very good read! I remember every last one of those games mentioned.
I could have done without the 4-5 pages about Norvall Turner, however.
I kept reminding my son-in-law, the raiderz fan, after we went to this year's raiderz/Redskins game, that they still have to keep Norvall! We don't!

Wow, I didn't know Buddy Ryan was such an asshole. You just have to love Gibbs!
