If anyone watched the game on TV yesterday you'll know what I'm talking about. Parcells looked like a sore loser on the sidelines all game, here are some prime examples:

1. Berating his Punter, Kicker, and Cornerback on national TV
2. With 20 seconds to go in a 28 point game with 3 serious injuries in the last quarter of play, Parcells refuses to take a knee. Dropping Bledsoe back to go for a useless TD, risking Bledsoe getting hurt as Williams answered with several blitzes.
3. Nothing new here - refusing to even gesture to Gibbs after the game.

I know he's a great coach but he just looked pathetic and it made me feel good to be a fan of a team that has a classy head coach. Gibbs stands for something other than just winning and would never publicly throw his players under a bus. In fact he's openly stood behind guys(like Royal) who have had terrible games and those players have responded by bouncing back and delivering.

It's simply the difference between a class organization and one with two less letters.

#1 is classic Parcells. He's insulted players for years, and it's part of his "charm". He is given a lot of credit for his media savvy, but I honestly think he just likes to piss people off, and he gets a pass because of winning Super Bowls in New York.

#2 is just plain stupid of the coach. Though Rivera's injury could've happened anytime, it happened in the last minutes of an embarassing loss. Did Parcells think that by trying for that one last score, he was saving face? I think he's being universally panned for it - and that includes in Dallas.

#3 didn't really happen. The coaches did shake hands briefly, but there wasn't much to say. They faed each other more than twenty times. I think by this point the pleasantries have been exchanged.

All in all, yes Parcells looked like a prick. But I could've told you that before the game.

FYI, the reason Parcells took the time outs and was pressing to score at the end was to teach his players a lesson. Parcells felt (and many, including Wilbon have reiterated) that his players mailed it in and didn't give it their all after the score turned 21-0. He wanted to leave 'em all out there at the end and face the humiliation of trying to go for a score during garbage time.

Parcells giving a cursory handshake to Gibbs seems to be remniscent of how Gibbs gave him two indifferent handshakes after being beaten by Dallas in both games last year. Both are guilty of that. What did you want them to do? Hug? yuk!

I was listening to the WFAN and francesa who is a good friend of Parcells was speculating on what may have been the problem with Parcells and Gibbs at the end of the game, he said both never really have gotten along, not that they hate each other, but they are alway's fighting for the same thing. But he thought the reason things looked worse than usual is because we were blitzing in the final minute of the game, he didn't really understand what was going on, on one hand the cowboy's are calling timeouts trying to score in a game that is over, and on the other hand we are blitzing trying to stop them. he then said there is kind of an unwritten rule that you don't blitz the QB up 4 TD's that late in the game, that was probably why Parcells was more ticked than usual, it will also add to this rivalry, I doubt Parcells can retire now without an opportunity to avenge the humiliation of this game. :laughing2

Yea, even Bledsoe was pleading with Sean Payton and Parcells to call off the dogs because he was so close to getting killed. It will definitely add some fuel to the rivalry. Gotta love it!

But by calling Timeouts that late would be breaking an unwritten rule as well.

I have no problem with either team playing hard to the final whistle.

As for everything else, that's vintage Parcells. Not exactly any surprises.

The interesting part is how amazingly pathetic he looks now when he acts like that during a blow out. Kornheiser's comment about him starting to look like Tony Soprano's Mom was right on.

I don't know about that. I think we had seriously cooled things off defensively by the fourth quarter (weren't a bunch of 2nd stringers in?) My recollection (and maybe I just have a biased memory) is that we eased off quite a bit and then in the last few minutes Parcells is trying to go for a score and shove us around. I thought we started blitzing AFTER Parcells made it clear he wasn't going to just kneel it out.

I say kudos to Williams and Co. for not letting the Tuna push them around so he can save face or teach his guys a lesson in the last few minutes. You wanna play nasty and fight it out to the last second when you're down 28 points? Fine, we'll blitz you all out and intercept the pass.

Oh, and did anyone see his postgame interview where he said the last INT "didn't count"? Gotta love rationalizing minute points of his lousy performance.
