Turned The Corner?

The best job all around in 1 game since Gibbs came back, the margin of victory did not come close to telling what really took place in this game. Gibbs finally showed a wild side [at least for him] but the big thing he did was stretch the defense side to side, not allowing dallas to just key in on our backs, the sweep's and the reverse to Moss went a long way to keeping the defense from stacking the middle, the flee flicker didn't gain a thing, but it showed the dallas secondary that if they start committing to the run we are willing to burn them. Could we and would we have won without those play's? Absolutly, the Skins were not to be denied, but it was a refreshing victory in how we went about the game plan, when we commit to the sweep with Portis it helps to open up the inside game as well, even though we really didn't get any yards on the reverse to Moss, it forced the defense especially the LB's not to overpersue leaving our O-line with a legitamate chance to block without having 8 and 9 defenders flooding one side.

What can I say about the defense? Well all you had to do is watch that game and see one of the most dominating performances we ever had. As Aikman said, he couldn't ever remember seeing a QB harassed more, with absolutly no time to throw on every single pass play. I think Bledsoes face pretty much said it all after he threw his final INT I thought he was going to wave a white flag as he walked off the field!

I was also so very encouraged by Gibbs keeping his foot on the petal the whole game, we never lost momentum at any point, and that's a big plus going into next weeks game, knowing Gibbs is finally going to attack for 4 quarters!

Now for the negatives, I know you all thought that for once I might not find any negatives but I did, we will have our hands full next week with a Giants defense that is far better than what we faced today, Brunell although accurate is leaving the ball in the air to long, that may be a problem against a defense like the Giants, and #2 we won't be able to pressure the QB with the front 4 like we did with dallas, let's face it Daniels had a cardboard cut out in front of him today.

Before this game I really didn't think we would do much against the Giants, but you really have to be encouraged by this game, I know we blew out the 9er's, but I was not really impressed with the belief we had turned the corner because the realization was it was the 9er's, this game we may have just done that, turned the corner! :headbange

Turned the corner? We got a gorilla off our back!

As for your list of negatives:
"Brunell although accurate is leaving the ball in the air to long"

Guess you misspelled the word negative (singular!)

Bring on the Gmen, I wanna sleep in on Christmas!

That was the biggest win we've seen from this team in years. To sweep Dallas and to stomp them in the process is a huge emotional lift to this franchise and very well could be an indication that this team has turned the corner.

I think a few things have lead to this turnaround. #1, the overall committment to playing smashmouth football the past 4 games. The OL appears to be finally finding their groove, I just pray the loss of Thomas doesn't kill the momentum this group has established. Thomas is one of the more underrated guards in the league and he is so great at pulling and leading those counters. Let's hope old man Brown has some gas in the tank.

#2, the return of C-Griff has been HUGE. It's obvious that he is our defensive MVP. When he was out of the lineup teams ran at will and our pass rush was non-existent. With him back in the lineup our run D has returned to it's stout form of a year ago and the pass rush from the front four has really picked it up.

I really believe the Giants are in for a dogfight. The Skins are peaking at just the right time, FedEX is gonna be rockin' once again this week, and there is definitely an issue of payback on the minds of our guys.

HTTR!!

Honestly, I feel we'll be able to rush NY pretty well too. Don't they have a reserve tackle playing on Daniels side?
