irish 12-19-2005, 11:01 AM That's complete BS analysis by Riggins. CP has only 66% of our rushing TDs. Show me another team with a 1300 yard rusher who accounts for such a small percentage of his team's rushing TDs. Point is, Betts, Sellers, and Rock all get goal line touches. That doesn't suggest inefficiency to me - that suggests CP is a team player. Do you think Shawn Alexander would stand for Maurice Morris getting 8 rushing TDs this year? Absolutely not.
While I dont doubt CP is as much a team player as the next guy you make it sound like he is going to the coachs telling them to spread the TDs around. I doubt thats the case. The skins RBs all get goal line touches because thats how the coaches call the plays, nothing more, nothing less.
Just curious, how do you know Shawn Alexander would not stand for Maurice Morris getting 8 rushing TDs?

One yard. Three feet. Thirty-six inches. Any way you measure it, the Seattle Seahawks’ Shaun Alexander came up just short in his effort to pass the New York Jets’ Curtis Martin for the NFL rushing title.
“Of course it would have been sweet to get it,” Alexander said. “I feel worse because we had a quarterback sneak for a touchdown.”

TheMalcolmConnection 12-19-2005, 11:53 AM Key to victory is running Portis outside. Those plays were money almost every time!

you nailed it darksets, CP would NEVER, EVER say anything even remotely like that. i could find a ton of quotes of him saying "i'd rather get 40yds and win than 100 and a loss". he routinely goes on about he doesn't care about personal records. and only a guy who doesn't would be risking his health the way he does to save Brunell on every pass play he's in to block.

You nailed it ODS, Alexander would never stand for that. I mean, he's the man and all but after that comment last year, you have to question his team spirit.
I hope he get's record this year and meet us in the playoffs!!!
SouperMeister 12-19-2005, 02:19 PM Portis is definitely raising his game at the right time. Gotta love Gibbs leaning on the O-line and running game like the old days. The Randy Thomas injury hurts, but I'm a lot more confident having Ray Brown at his natural position (guard) than having him at offensive tackle. Does anybody know the early word on Antonio Pierce's status?
skindogger47 12-19-2005, 02:31 PM I love Portis to death but he still has trouble around the goal line. I really hope we let Betts go and use Nemo as a goalline back next year with Rock as the steady backup. Clinton is well above average in every phase of the game, I just wish he hit holes like Rock does when he runs up the middle instead of falling forward for 4. He should have broken more runs this year if you ask me. Still, he is a Redskin through and through.
offiss 12-19-2005, 02:33 PM I just wanted to say this is the type of game I've been waiting for for many years. All around it was a good game. I don't know if anyone else noticed but we ran Portis to his style of running alot more today
go skinssssssssss!!!
Hail2em
I still wish we would incorperate some draw plays for Portis, I just think he would be so much more effective with those quick draw play's, it would also help to give Brunell a little more time on some passing plays as well, defenses would have to respect the handoffs on the draw play. It is nice to see them giving Portis the ball on the outside more, defiently more his style, hopefully we don't stop there, I hope we continue to adjust for him and get more draws, as well as screen plays for him.

Our line needs to get a better push on short yardage, no way we get rid of Bettes, what guarentees do have that nemo can get the job done? Betts is a tremendous backup for Portis, if we can keep him we won't think twice about it.

You hit the nail on the head, when you're getting hit in the backfield it's not the RB's fault, it's on the big guys up front.
