NO, NO & NO.

How many more teams does this guy have to burn before people finally wake up and realize he is nothing but a cancer and a selfish media whore.

Matty, if TO is such a cancer to the team why when McNabb went down for the year did Philly players ask "Does this mean TO will come back?" If TO was such a cancer I doubt they would ask that. TO was a great teammate last year and if Andy Reid was not such a stubborn jerk would still be a good team mate this year.

TO was not a problem last year with Philly and put his career on the line in the Super Bowl. Had the Eagles given him the $ TO would not have been a problem this year and Philly would be in the playoff hunt. All the Skins have to do is give TO a 1 year deal, pay him the $ then sit back and enjoy the TDs.

That sounds like a great idea - let's let the player extort the team.

TO took the pay to play in Philly. Philly took TO at a salary they were comfortable with? Why should they give him more when he agreed to less? What's to stop him from doing this every year for the next few years?

Its a cant lose for the Skins.

Thats why I recommended giving TO a 1 year deal. TOs problems come along when he stays in one place for awhile. If the skins wanted to keep him after 1 year they could sign a new deal if not, say goodbye. Like I said, cant lose.

Players extorting teams is the whole basis of free agency. I guess you never heard of players and teams renegotiating contracts, heres a news flash, it happens all the time but for some reason Philly decided to play hard a$$ and sacrificed the season to prove a point.

They wanted him back because they were desperate and their backs were against the wall with McNabb out.

TO and good teammate should never be mentioned in the same breath.

I don't know how anyone can look at this guy's antics and say yeah, I'd want that on my team.

Please.

Don't conflate TO's situation with free agency issue, renegotiation issue, or anything like that, irish. You should know better - this isn't that type of situation.

Neither Philly nor TO said "Let's play one year on this contract and then revisit it to see if it's fair." TO wasn't in his last year of his contract, and there wasn't a salary cap reason to redo his contract.

TO threw a hissy-fit and held out for more money, and Philly's front office, much to their credit, said "no player is bigger than the team".

I think TO's next contract will have many behavioural clauses, coupled with his age and he will be a model teamate for about two years. If the Skins got him you would win the Division hands down. Dallas would win the Division hands down if they got him. he would change the balance of power in the NFC east.

TO is a cancer because of exactly this reason! He has created a divide in the locker room. McNabb hates him and wants him gone. Trotter loves him and wants him to stay. And there's a bunch of other guys on each side of the fence. You're telling me that because a portion of the players want to keep him, that's a good sign???

You want all of your players on the same page as the coaches. TO caused that huge rift. Reid and McNabb want him gone, and a bunch of other players want him back. No matter how you cut it, that ain't good.

I know TO & Philly didnt say lets play a year and revisit later. I think most contracts that are renegiotated are not planned to be renegiotated but the teams see the value in keeping the player happy and the player sees that the team values him. That's all TO was asking for after he put his career on the line to try to get Philly a championship. I said Philly played hard a$$ and I was only half correct because that whole thing was handled really bad by both sides. I dont think TO would handle it like that again and any team dealing with him will approach their deal differently.

If the skins do pick up TO it will be great to see everyone on this site start talking about how great TO is. I guarantee that will happen.

I'm telling you that if TO was such a huge cancer EVERY player would want him gone.

I dunno about that - players don't call the plays. My point is that I'm sure a lot of them see the talent but aren't able to truly appreciate the destructive influence on the locker room. Without that "big picture" perspective, I don't put a whole lot of stock in what the players consider to be "good personnel moves".
