All I can say is YUCK!! For all of the reasons already cited, the cost of the trade, the cap managment issues and moving Samuels from his natural position, this is just a lousy concept.

The line is fine. Yes, Gallery looks like a sure thing, can't miss, superstar maybe HOF. But dammit, can we please address some real areas of need? Jeezzz.

Even though I prefer Taylor, KWII at 5 would be better than this scenario.

There is no way this will happen. Are OL is not what we need to fix. I think we will stay pat and pick Taylor. At least I hope.

Just hit me with Taylor, Winslow or a trade down w/ some d-linemen. I really dont care, as long as they show they are adressing a need we have.

The chargers HAVE to trade down or draft someone else other than Eli. If they draft Eli and he holds out it would not be good for the SD front office. can you imagine wasting the #1 pick of a NFL draft? With the past draft mistakes the Bolt's fans may start a riot.

chris mortenson said not to be suprised if the chargers stay put and select philip rivers.

Yeah I guess that could happen if they hold out to the last minute trying to work with Eli and then not get a trade in place in time. (I doubt anyone in the Bolt's front office get too much sleep for the next few days)

But it would be a huge failing for them not to trade down to get a guy they could get with a lower pick. Remember too a QB drafted 1st gets a lot more green than a guy drafted 11th, even if its the guy the team really wanted anyway.

But I really think that Mort is getting hos leg pulled when he believes the Chargers when they say they will draft Eli any way even if he may sit the year.

Could you imagine what would happen to manning's stock if he sit's out the year? And imagine if the charger's were in a position to draft him again next year, what would he do? If I am san diego and I can't get fair value for the pick, like the giant's holding out so that manning can force san diego's hand, then I would draft him regardless and say If you want him you have to pay, if not he either will sign with us or we will eat the pick and he can pound salt all year long, If this kid is the real deal there is no way he will sit out a year, if he does, I would really have to question his commitment to winning and his passion for the game, because that's what football player's do, they play football, I think they are just trying to scare san diego, and when push comes to shove either the giant's will step up, or manning will back down, but they will have to make all parties involved know that they are willing to draft manning and let him sit out if they have to, you have to fight fire with fire.
