Houston Texans

Living here in LA, I see all the USC games. This guy is a combination of Joe Washington, Kelvin Bryant and Earnest Byner. He is, as Matty stated, "lightning in a bottle". Great speed, quickness, intelligence and when he gets into the open field, forget it. If anything, he is UNDERRATED! Be sure to watch the national championship game and you'll see why he is so hailed.

i cant get a read on bush because that damn usc team is soooo loaded.he has alot of talent buts its hard trying to translate that into what sucess he will have in the nfl.texans are interested in usc coach carrol as well.i am not sure what i would do if i was the texans.if they are sold are david carr they will probably trade down because they so many other holes to fill

You can paint Capers "gone". The over/under for how long he lasts after the final game for the Texans - against the 49ers no less - on New Years Day is 48 hours. I'll take UNDER.

Casserly is probably 50/50 to survive.

The Texans real failing is that their offensive line awful. The only thing offensive about it is the smell of their practice uniforms back during training camp in August. They don't block real well for the run but they make up for that by blocking really horribly on pass plays. David Carr is lucky to be alive. Even in the worst of times for the Skins' OL under Steve Spurrier, the Skins' OL was hugely better than what the Texans have.

So who's to blame? Is Capers at fault for not getting enough performance out of those jamokes? Is Casserly at fault for thinking those lumps could actually block other professional football players? Or did Casserly assemble a flawed bunch and then Capers got them to underachieve even from their reduced levels of proficiency? You make the call...

RB is worth the hype...

1658 rushing yards on 187 carries (that's almost 9 yards a clip... you can say what you want about Pac-10 defenses, but that's hard to believe any back to get at JC!

12.4 receiving yards a carry (for a back, that's crazy)

15 rushing TDs and 2 receiving TDs... oh not to mention 3 passing TDs! he throws a pretty damn good ball too.

You could probably find better statistics somewhere this season in CFB, but you won't be able to find it in one player. Not to mention, he's not the only player in that offense- he has to split carries with Lendale White (who will be another first rounder)... and not to mention the other weapons (Smith, Jarrett, and Byrd).

The fact that other superstars make his job easier is somewhat valid... but let's not forget that every defense we've played so far has tried to key in on Bush in their gameplans. That's what separates Bush from the rest of the pack- they "try." I remember some Cal defender say, "take away the big play ability and he's an average running back." Yeah, well that's the key- every defense thinks they can contain him, but until they see it in person, they're already eating his dust.

The SC O-line is freakish, I'll agree there. If you watched the UCLA game, my grandma could have run through those holes. Having said that, even if you put a good-to-great running back behind there (say like a UT ricky williams or a VT Kevin Jones) they would have pretty good numbers as well. But they don't have the same type of dynamic that Bush has on the offense. With a Heisman QB, stud wideouts, and top TEs, he's the X-factor that D-coordinators try to plan for, but rarely ever stop.

Re: "he's too small, he'll be Brian Westbrook or Eric Metcalf"- B. Westbrook or Metcalf do not have the vision Bush has. I've never seen anyone in the history of football that has RB's game speed. Yes, there have been many players faster than Reggie. But no one has been able to cut on a dime (without losing a step), making defenders look like pop warner players... this includes Barry Sanders, who was amazing at switching directions. After Chow left last season, the coaching staff told him he'd be the focus point of the run game (after going 50/50 with White last season). He put on extra weight, and it's allowed him to run between the tackles. His 9 yard rushing average is a combination of long runs and grind it out yardage. Oh, and he's learned how to become an effective blocker too- essential for the NFL.

People say, "he won't be able to do that in the NFL because the defenses are faster and bigger." You don't think Bush is going to get bigger and faster? His ability to adapt physically and mentally is second to none. Unlike a lot of people in similar positions of celebrity here in Los Angeles, he's forgone the extra curricular activity. He's here at the mecca of fake boobs, great weather, and Hollywood. But he's a straight baller- no parties, no alcohol, no drugs. All he does is practice, study hard, and show up on game day- especially when it's a national stage.

What you're going to see in the Rose Bowl this year is probably different than what he's done all year... and that's be a decoy. The Texas d is probably going to focus on shutting him down, and when that happens Lienart is going to have a field day with all the other receivers. It happened at the last Rose Bowl we were in, when BMW was the decoy for Keary Colbert. In either case, it won't affect his draft status... there's a reason why Pro scouts are saying he's a combination of Barry Sanders and Ladainian Tomlinson.

Bush is great but from all the games Ive watched he has a tendency to not tuck the ball he holds it away from body alot when running in college is not a problem. Hopefully when he goes pro he will either change that himself or be taught to cause you wont get away with that in NFL defenses are to fast and will knock that ball out. If he fixes that his potential is amazing

Reggie Bush is the main reason for the team being undefeated... 513 total yards in a 3 point victory over fresno and he had a really good game against Notre Dam too. He's the type of player who will bring his best games when needed. Unless he gets injured I would be amazed if he isn't one of the best runningbacks the NFL has ever seen when he's done.

The thing about Reggie Bush is he has the luxury of having a great offensive line. I watched a bit of their championship game last week, and I could have driven a mac truck through those holes. I believe Reggie is an outstanding running back, but he's not going to have that type of offensive line if he goes to Houston next year.
