he is the most popular player you will see more arrington jerseys in fedex than any other player and i am one like u that would be extremely upset if he was traded ..ty for saying all this!

i was there as well. he felt so good when he heard everyone cheering, and i was proud to have him on the skins :food-smil :food-smil he gets traded, then there is gonna be a lot of anger towards the organization :doh:
Beemnseven 12-03-2005, 12:38 AM Paul, I don't think it's such a bad idea, but I tend to agree with the sentiments of those who say that you'll only sacrifice the linebacking corps for an improved D-line, and that's assuming that the draft picks all pan out.
Nonetheless, if a team offered something absurd, like two first rounders, I wouldn't blink -- and there'd be some disappointed Redskin fans with worthless Arrington jerseys.
That Guy 12-03-2005, 12:50 AM make lavar line up at DE and blindy rush into the back field, he's super quick, so he can cover up some mistakes. trading him means a massive cap hit, and doing that while absorbing an elite DE's contract (which would be even bigger) could turn into cap suicide.

This is my kind of thinking. We need to maximize the use we get out of our roster. Lavar was incredibly successful lining up as DE on 3rd down situations under Marvin Lewis. I believe that on third downs rather than subbing out lavar for Chris Clemons. We should put Lavar in as DE, and throw Clemons at the weak side linebacker. Then Lavar immediately draws the double...and frees up a linebacker/corner/saftey blitz from whatever side he is on.
I havnt seen that yet... any thoughts why?

A better idea is to keep your stars, build the talent base and find role players to fill your holes. It takes 2 to 4 seasons for this to pan out, but you keep your core group together longer and get further ahead. The team should have put more effort in keeping Antonio Pierce to complement Lavar.
On the other hand, I lived in Minnesota in '89 when the Vikings dropped their drawers (7 draft picks and three players) to get Herschel Walker from the Cowboys. The Boys parlayed the draft picks with other teams to get Emmit Smith, Russell Maryland, Darren Woodson, Clayton Holmes and Kevin Smith -- and of course three Super Bowl rings. The Vikings were a finesse team that never made proper use of Walker. The Cowboys replaced Walker with a Hall of Famer to-be. Any player is expendable for a ridiculous offer.
The Moral?
This trade only works if the team gets a LB talent equal to Arrington. Building the line at the expense of linebacker is not an improvement.
Fantasy football trades are not how to build up a franchise.

Ive got to disagree with you on one point here, LaVar is NOT our best linebacker. Our best linebacker, by far, is Marcus Washington. He has been our best LB for 2 years now. LaVar has never been the same since his knee injury, and I don't think we will ever see the explosiveness he once showed us.

You're probably right - the announcers in yesterday's game (who were otherwise mostly awful) picked up on this, noting that he seemed to be favoring his rebuilt knee.
