Keep Gibbs, dump Breaux.

Or whoever is helping Gibbs with those offensive plays. We need to seperate Gibbs completely from playcalling and let him deal with fundamentals and firing up the troops which he excels at. He's a great motivator but a rather sad playcaller and GM, in my opinion.

We need to go after a legitimate offensive coordinator this year, try to poach something from one of the more successful offenses in the league. What we're doing on offense isn't working, and you can say what you want about execution, but I'm sick of hearing that as an excuse. In order for our offense to execute, that means the defense we're playing again has to fail to execute. So it's a game of give and take, sometimes you get lucky, sometimes the defense gets lucky.

I think after this season Gibbs needs to take a good look at his staff and replace a few people, namely giving many of his offensive duties away to someone we bring in for that reason. I said at the end of last year Gibbs had one more year to prove his system, in my eyes, and he's failed to do so. While the offense has played better, they haven't been able to put enough points on the board, and I can't blame the defense too much here.

I don't understand how we can give the defense a free pass here. Have they not been a disappointment this year?? Seems like they can still lock a team down for stretches, but when the game is on the line they get burned for big plays.

I'm not saying the offense is beyond blame, while the unit has shown huge strides they're still not there yet, but when I see people let the defense off the hook it just makes me scratch my head. The D can't generate consistent pressure, they are horrible at creating turnovers and they are prone to giving up backbreaking big plays.

I seem to remember us saying last year if this offense could just average 20 per game we'd be in great shape. Well, the offense is averaging nearly 20 (19.7) and look where we are, meanwhile the D is giving up over 20 (20.4).

Not to brag, but.....ok, I'm bragging, but I had called for the demotion of Breaux as far back as last season. I'm glad someone else sees eye to eye on this.

Can't blame the D except for the Tampa Bay game. Holding the Chargers to 17 points in regulation should have won it for us if the offense had stepped up in the second half.

Perhaps a drastic change is not needed. Promote Bill Musgrave to Offensive coord, or at the very least, let him call the plays. That will keep the offensive system the same, but improve the playcalling, so that the players aren't faced with the additional burden of learning a new offensive scheme. Hell, if Tuna has surrendered the playcalling duties in Dallas - so can Gibbs.

While we're at it, what has Earnest Byner done as a coach? Portis has been unimpressive.

I agree that the defense doesn't deserve a pass, they have blown the leads and gave up too many points against TB.. However, knowing that they are not a lights out defense, the offense needs to compensate and put up more points.. The defense is giving up 20 points per game, simple math means that we need more than 3 TD to win games.

I just find it hard to beleive that Arizona, Green Bay, Jacksonville, Tennesee and Oakland (all of whom will have averaged more points per game after this week) have superior offensive talent than we do. It's the scheme and the playcalling that are leading to these close games.. We've scored 21 or more pts only 3 times this season and lost 2 of those 3 (KC and SD).. 24 pts per game means 3 more wins (Denver, Oakland, SD).. Unrealistic you say? 10 teams average 24 or more, 7 more average 21 or more.. Are there 18 teams with more talent on offense than us? I agree that players have to execute and make plays, but the scheme needs to put them in positions to do so..

While the defense doesn't get a free pass, it at least looks like they're trying to play their game and take it home unlike the offense. Remember what we said when the defense under Spurrier (Edwards I think was the coordinator) would sit back and play prevent defense which lead to defeats, we jumped on him because he got away from his gameplan and gave away games. I feel that most of these losses have been much more of a result of an O not doing anything at the game than the defense sitting down and taking it.

You have to give the D a lil pass on this one, the have been and are hurt all along the D-line and in the secondary. True they are not the great D they were last year, but they are playing well enough for the skins to win. They did stuff LT for 3.5 quarters and caused 3 turnovers, as well as sacking Breeze a couple of times. But the Offense went 3 and out, I dont know how many times, they constantly gave the ball to the Chargers on their own 45yd line and the defense held up, the D just got worn down. When the game really counted, the skins D caused a turnover and gave the O great field position on the Chargers 40, it is inexcusable for them not to be able to move the ball 10 yds, I mean 3 runs and 1 pass (what it boiled down to after the penalty) cmon be a little creative, Portis can throw the ball just as well as LT, but when do we ever try that? What happened to Cooley? And everyone keeps saying, that Moss is double covered now so he is not open, Havent Randy Moss, Steve Smith, Tory Holt, and Terrell Owens been double covered for years, and they still find ways to have big games? Maybe the skins can run a different play, other that the 7-8 plays they run all day long, Maybe Moss can get open if he isnt running the same routes all day, All year long and even last year players say that opposing teams know the play before the snap, well maybe we should do somthing different from the norm and possibly try to win a game, rather that 2 2 yd runs into a pile and then a pass to Royal that he drops anyways.
