the oline is not easy to gel, it takes time to learn the protections and who's picking up who on every kind of blitz possible. ray lewis will never play here, he wants too much money and MLB isn't a need like DL, WR, and CB are. griese made it 17 games, corey lasted 19 and went worthless. muhammad is a great receiver, but he's 31 and there's no way he's worth nearly as much as he got paid. Lloyd isn't really an upgrade over patten either.

I think reggie wayne is a FA this year, that'd be a good WR to target if they let him go (though expensive :( ) ... and this offseason is going to see at least a chance at some great Dlinemen coming free (DF probably gets tagged, but that' a guy you'd give a left nut to have).

i think getting a wr in the draft is a viable option, one of the easier positions to step in and make an impact.if we are close to being a good team as we think we are, than we have to go after serious help on the d line.a good run stopper, and a stud pass rusher.i would keep c griffith and j salaveea(i think could be a good run stopper in a d line rotation)leave the o line alone for one more year to gel,and they dont upgrade their play, then tinker with it.

I'm not sure I'd go after Wayne. Wayne looks like a great wideout in Indy, but I think Manning could make Cliff Russell look like Terrell Owens.

I'd rather go after Brandon Lloyd than Reggie Wayne, for the reason Ramseyfan listed above. Take into account that Brandon Lloyd hasn't struggled with qbs that aren't household names. Indy can't keep Reggie Wayne, Dwight Freeney, or Edgerrin James all at once. My money says they give a long term contract to either DF or Edge, and whoever doesn't get it long term gets the tag. Reggie Wayne will be gone. Also, what about Kyle Vanden Bosch? he signed a one year deal with Tennessee and so far has 10.5 sacks. He might be a one year wonder, I don't know, but if DF isn't available, i say we look at him. Our most pressing needs are at #2 wideout, DE, and tight end.

No one should be assured of a spot on the 2006 team at this time.

The certified gonners are W. Harris, Ade Jimoh, R. Royal, and Frost.

dont think we would move cooley to TE, why mess with a good thing when hes been awesome at H back?

hutchinson would be great. mathis isnt a full time player though, only a situational pass rusher. jimmy smith would be alright, but he doesnt have too much left. if we got ray lewis that would be amazing, he would make this defense so nasty just with his personality and charisma.

What are you kidding me, Mathis isn't a fulltime player, he lead the league in sacks, If that not full time, well I'll take that over what we have now, trust me hes good at the run and rushing the passer, If we got the guys I suggested then we would be a much improved team.....don't take my word for it, look it up yourself :boxing:

Actually, Mathis isn't a full-time player. He gets to play in roughly 50% of the defense's snaps. But, that is what is pretty impressive; the guy isn't even on the field half the time but he still leads the league in sacks.

Yeah who would have thought last year at this time that Coles was on his way out?

i wouldnt be opposed to his signing but...
if he plays all downs, he will wear down because he is very light for a DE...we would still need to play one of our DEs about half the time. he would play nearly the same role as our chris clemons does, but get ont he field a little more id imagine
