(Merged Thread) Overreacting to a loss

Is it just me, or does it seem that people (no one in particular) are taking this loss a little too hard? So far, I have heard people say:

1. "Brunell sucks"
2. "Portis sucks"
3. "The O-line sucks"
4. "The coaching staff sucks"
5. "The defense sucks"
6. "The team as a whole sucks"

It's one thing to say that Brunell throws the ball away too often, too many balls were dropped, Portis can't grind it out, the defense gives up too many big plays, the coaching staff is too predictable, the team is frustrating, or the team let the Chargers beat them. It becomes a totally different matter when someone starts saying how everything sucks and lays out f-bombs every two sentences.

The team is average, not awful, not great, but average. That doesn't mean that the entire team needs to be leveled and rebuilt. Do you totally retool a machine when a few parts are broken? No, although that is what the Dan Snyders of the world like to do.

I understand the emotional component of each loss. But, we lost in overtime to one of the best and most complete teams in the league. Yet, people are acting like we are 0-11 and just got blown out by the Texans. What gives?

I couldn't talk to my girlfriend for 2 hours after the game. She kept asking me questions and I just waved my hand at her and she understood not to talk to me. I wanted to pound my television screen into tiny little fragments of glass and plastic. So yes, I can understand how people feel that their hearts have been ripped out.

As for the relief, it's in sight and it is the Rams and Cardinals.

1-1......if we're 2-0 I'll be the happiest person ever.....but I don't see us actually pulling off a road win to an average team. I wouldn't even be surprised if we put Walt Harris on Torry Holt.......

I wouldn't mind it.......but it's a longshot.....

Listen, I have a confession to make. It's my fault we lost. I was on the phone with my fiance from the opening kickoff all the way until the play just before LT's first touchdown. If I had stayed on the phone with her just five more minutes we probably would have won.

Of course that would mean she and I have to talk for the entire game every game from now on.

don't worry Tafkas all will be forgiven. . . eventually. As for those things that you said you saw RF, i didn't say any of those. But i did say and i will say the coaching staff is too predictable, the defense gives up too many big plays, and the offense can't grind it out in the long run. Actually on second thought, i did lay the f-bomb on a few players, namely Royal, Harris, and another guy. I do think those guys are the weak links. I got caught up, because i was emotional after the way we've been losing these past three weeks. It's just really frustrating to know how good we can be, yet always seem to lose.

For me personally I know it's just frustration cuz this team with all of it's close calls and seemingly lack of a killer instinct, the team could easily be 0-11 or 10-1 and seeing the team @ 5-6 is hard to stomach with how well the season seemed to start off. It's just dumbfounding how the team seems incapable of playing a complete game with the same desire and sense of urgency from quarter to quarter save the practical no show vs the giants. We r still only 2 games behind the divisional leaders with games left against both @ home, a visit to the shell-of-their-former-selves-eagles, and 2 upcoming games against seemingly beatable games so I firmly believe that the season is still alive and I will not give up hope. A lot of people, myself included, didn't think the skins would be able to keep todays game close and they did and I think that, silly as it sounds, makes it worse. We all care so much about the success of the Redskins and to see them come so close only to fumble it away or let a win slip from their grasps because they become afraid to lose just makes us all want to scream our lungs out. Some people are going to the extreme with their frustration but a lot of our frustrations have been building over the past dozen years or so and it's somewhat understandable that some r starting to crack. I know it sounds corny but don't give up faith in this team. :food-smil :httr:

Hey guys, I've been away for a while, but upon my return it seems like everyone is really down in the dumps, which is perfectly understandable.

But I've been having a look at some remaining schedules, and I think we still have a realistic shot.

We should definitely take these next two games against the Rams and Cards, and that leaves us 7-6 with the 'Boys coming in.

Win that, and we're 8-6 with the G-Men coming in.

Win that, and we're 9-6 going into Philly against a depleted Eagles team.

Win that, and we're 10-6, and headed to the playoffs.

I truly think that it can be done. Don't ask yourself "Do I think this team will win 5 straight," That is too macro, and it's depressing. If you are seeking positivity, ask yourself "Do I think this team will beat the Rams ?" and "Do I think this team will beat the Cardinals?" etc.

In all honesty, there is not a game in the upcoming 5 where I think we are unlikely to win. That's crucial. We are just as or more talented than these other teams, and if we can put it all together, we have a damn shot at this thing.

I know some of you will think I'm being way too optimistic, but show me a game where you really think we can't win...
