In other words, whoever grabs him has to have at least 1.5 million available under this year's cap.
Eagles may release WR to avoid further controversySchneed10 11-23-2005, 01:30 PM In other words, whoever grabs him has to have at least 1.5 million available under this year's cap. firstdown 11-23-2005, 01:40 PM Here's what happens: 1) The Eagles waive him. 2) Teams opt to either claim him off waivers, or pass on him. 3) If any team claimed him off waivers, he goes to the worst team (determined by record) who claimed him. If this happens, he takes the contract he signed in Philly with him, his new team will have to pay him based on that contract. 4) If no team claims him off waivers, he becomes an unrestricted free agent and can sign with anyone. Now I think someone will claim him, for sure. But the thing is he's already unhappy with his contract. He said so over the summer. Whoever picks him up will know that they have to deal with a huge headache. Also, the Skins can't pick him up off waivers, we don't have the cap room. That 3.75 million base salary needs to fit under the cap, and prorated to the 6 remaining games, that's about 1.5 million or so. We don't have that much room. It's impossible for him to be a Redskin.I'm glad we have some people on this site who can understand how these contracts, trades, and the cap work. I stop trying to understand how it all works long ago. Thanks for the info, and how long has it taken for you to learn how all this works? Schneed10 11-23-2005, 01:51 PM I'm glad we have some people on this site who can understand how these contracts, trades, and the cap work. I stop trying to understand how it all works long ago. Thanks for the info, and how long has it taken for you to learn how all this works? Glad to help. On the salary cap, I work in the finance field, so I think I can grasp the concepts because they sound somewhat similar to the way things are accounted for in business. Terms like prorating and allocation are second nature to me. Plus, since I'm a numbers guy, my eyes actually don't glaze over and go crosseyed when reading one of John Clayton's salary cap analyses. So I just ended up reading a lot of those types of articles over the last 5 years or so. CrazyCanuck is also very helpful on this site with that stuff. I learned a fair amount from him too, looking at his salary cap spreadsheets. jermus22 11-23-2005, 01:53 PM I'm amazed (and appalled) that we're even talking about the possibility of signing T.O. :vomit: Hog1 11-23-2005, 02:53 PM All can relax! ESPN is announcing T.O. suspension is upheld by arbitration. AHHHH, the smell of justice is rare and oh soooooooo sweet!!!!!!!!!!!http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2234459 Longtimefan 11-23-2005, 03:25 PM I'm amazed (and appalled) that we're even talking about the possibility of signing T.O. :vomit: No one could have said it better, and I agree wholeheartedly. How on earth can anyone who is a true fan of the team consider wanting this guy on the team? We've gone through this before, there is nothing, did I say that right? "NOTHING" this guy brings that will equal the trouble he causes. We have enough problems already, why want for a guy whom we've just watched blow-up two different teams right in front of our eyes? I just feel sorry for whoever fools with this guy, and I certainly hope our organization has not lost it just yet. scowan 11-23-2005, 03:30 PM The ruling is in over on NFL.com. T.O. must sit out another game. I wonder what happens for the last 4 games of the year? Sheriff Gonna Getcha 11-23-2005, 03:38 PM I pray to God, Allah, Yahweh, and Gibbs that we don't sign him....even for 4 weeks. Cooley 350Z 11-23-2005, 03:44 PM Bravo. Glad to see Turdell will not get his way. I hope this sends a message to the entire league that nobody is above their team. dmek25 11-23-2005, 07:59 PM thank god to is not coming to washington.i cant believe any real skins fan would want him on our team |
