Play calling by Gibbs and GW.

things arent as bad as they seem and things werent as good as they seem when we were undefeated.

Portis is a great back, he SHOULD'VE had back to back monster games but the play calling was aweful.

against the Buccs, portis had close to 100 yard in the first quarter. this game he had 70 at the half(the fumbles did hurt). in both of those games, gibbs stopped running while we had the lead in the second half. we have to pound the ball to put teams away....

GW: his system has been exposed. Ive said it before, teams can dictate matchups they want. Marshall covering jerry porter is a matchup Norv will take all day.

Cooley: he gets alot of yards for a non WR/RB... WHAT THE FUCK HAS BEEN UP WITH HIM? too much success? too much pussy? hey portis did fumble twice but he averages 20+ touches a game. cooley gets 4 or 5 touches a game and he drops the ball atleast twice a game. for a guy his size, he shouldnt have the ball knocked out that easily.

Brunell haters: what are you thinking? brunell is playing like he has all year. but when you have two WR's in a route covered by 4 DB's, brunell isnt going to find someone open.
the streak patterns to jacobs were gambles. he threw it to him because he was single covered(moss and cooley were double covered). the streak route is a timing route, jacobs has to get off the line without getting jammed, but #21 kept(i cant pronounce or spell his name) knocking him off his route...


Gibbs has a major problem to solve. the problem is:
If we stay in Max protect, how do we get WR's open VS twice as many DB's and if we get out of max protect and we go 4 WR's, how do we keep our oline from getting brunell killed?

GW also has a major problem. How do we get pressure on the QB without putting our coverage at a disadvantage?

walt harris needs to sit. get rogers in there. who cares if he makes mistakes. we need a change. phillip danies and wynn to go sit. they cant do any worse, they dont stop the run, they dont get pressure but they are in there because on zone blitzes they drop int he right zone. the zone blitz has not worked, its time to get young hungry guys what are fighting for an opportunity. we some no name player to step up with passion and desire like nd kalu and rich owens did a few years back... its time for a young players to get a chance. things arent working, so they might as well not work while getting players valuable playing experience.it can only get better.

To kinda go off of what you just said.... we need to start taking some risks offensivley. By risks, I do not mean just throwing the ball down the sidelines and hoping Taylor Jacobs catches the ball. We need to find ways to get Santana Moss open, who, bless his heart, is still doing one hell of job despite the coverages hes getting now. I just feel like we have all this talent and we arent using it how we should. Obviously the line playing like ass really limits your options, but i've felt this way even when the line played well.

I just think there is a fine line between taking risks and being foolish in playcalling. I also think it comes down to Moss finding ways to get open. That part can't really fall on coaching. There needs to be another receiver to step up and be a threat like Moss. Right now, I am very doubtful Taylor Jacobs is that guy.

The play calling was awful. Gibbs and Williams. Again late in the game, blitzing and not getting the QB. We got burned twice which set up the winning field goa. and not running the ball with 7 min to go and up 3 points. Especially when Portis is getting almost 5 yards a carry. And what in the hell is wrong with Jansen. He was getting beat like a drum. Burgess was blowing by him all day, luckily Brunell felt the heat and kept moving up or Burgess would have had like 5 sacks yesterday. I just keep going back to the end of the game and throwing the ball like we did. We are up 3 and throwing the ball 5 out of six plays. Three in a row in the series with 7 minutes to go. and two of those were deep balls down the sideline, to Jacobs, not Moss. we deserved to lose this game!

Their play calling in the past couple games seemed to be designed to protect a slim lead. Instead, their play calling cost us dearly.

I really don't think the playcalling is the issue some are making it out to be. The players ultimately have to execute, and they're simply not getting it done at times. Both parties have to share the blame, let's not let the players off the hook.

when you are up by three, with 7 minutes to go, and are throwing the ball deep down the sidelines. Calling 3 straight passes in that situation, and your running game is averaging 5 yards per carry, YEAH THATS BAD PLAY CALLING!!!!

Good point about Cooley. He kept us close and made a great catch on the last drive.

I am still concerned that Brunell continues to put the ball on the ground, even after last week saying he would work to stop it.

Don't you guys get it? Gibbs is purposely making G Williams stink it up so the latter won't get any offers for a head coaching position, and they can be here together to lead us through another season of heartbreak and mediocrity. <sarcasm>

In all honesty, G. Williams is a great Def. Coord. but his system is only as good as the players. With no D-line (that's right, NO D-LINE), the defense is volunerable no matter how many solid LBs and game changing Safeties you have. No one would have thought that the loss of Noble and Griffin would matter this much, but it has.

All those calling for Wynn and Griffin to be benched, who the hell is going to start in their place? The gimping Aki Jones? The great Cedric Killings? Ron Warner over-achieved last year, but it was a mistake to let him go - no matter how under-sized the guy was, he had speed coming off the edge.

Let's not forget that it was the Offense that stunk it up yesterday. When the D can hold an offense with a Super bowl QB and 2 great receivers to 16 points, then the D has done its job. Yesterday;s loss was on Gibbs and the offense. How do you not show up to play at home after a tough loss? They came out flat to being with, unable to pick up third and shorts at midfield in the 1st quarter. To not score a TD against the Raiders at home was inexcusable.

Memo to Portis: How about disguising yourself as a box of cough-suppressants this week? "Dr Don't Cough it Up"

This game was the Cleveland Game from last year ( a real low-point in the season). Also, this was the 3rd time Norv got his revenge against the skins since being fired. In Marty's first game as skins coach, Norv was Off Coord of a San Diego team that thumped us 30-3. Also, he was Off Coord when Miami beat the Gator Skins two years ago.

The perfect example of the bad play calling is the last minute and half of the game. Gibbs went twice to Jacobs who was covered instead of being his old Gibbsesque self.

They did not methodically exploit the middle and march down the field to be in a position to get a TD or a FG. They would have guaranteed themselves a FG and then take a shot at the end zone. This is so unlike Gibbs in the past.

Other thing: too many calls for Portis to run in the middle when sometimes he's very good at bouncing off the crowd and going outside for big gains.

Simple: bad game management and lack of mental focus all around.
