TAFKAS takes the 3 and 0 fastball down the middle and....

In this week's edition of Warpath Rewind, we put egos in check. We take you back to July 2004 when a certain "football man, not a football fan" expoused his opinion on what kind of running back was missing from a Gibbs offense and just who would be a great fit for that offense. Perhaps even the greatest back ever to play in that offense. Mr. Most Knowledgeable has since changed his opinion but apparently publicly denies ever having that opinion in the first place.

I really dont know where not going for it on 4th down, just across mid field was stupid. It was early, we are winning. where is the logic. Going for it there is something Spurrier would have done, and we saw how many games he won. However, not running the ball when we are leading late in the 4th quarter I thought was pretty stupid. We come out and throw the ball 3 straight times, incomplete. Two were deep balls down the side line to our #4 receiver, Jacobs. I really dont understand why we are throwing the ball with 7 minutes to go and averaging 5 yards per carry. If you want to critisize the coach, go after something that makes no sence, or is totally out of character. And critisize GW for calling Blitzes like he did AGAIN at the end of the game. Just like the Tampa game, he blitzes people leaving mismatches all over the field. That doesn't make alot of sence. We haven't been able to get pressure all day, what makes you think we are going to get it at the end of the game when they have been in Max protection since the 2nd quarter!! Again, a bad call by GW at the end of the game. No body should be that wide open with 3 min to go in the game, unless you send 8 people on a blitz, which is what he called for. and again on the Jordan flare pass. Its plays like this that make me feel like I am watching the skins of the past 7 or 8 years. Play close to everyone and find a way to lose the game. No matter if its the best team in the NFL or the worst.

the oakland raiders are a better team than the washington redskins.

I agreed with your post up until the shot at Portis. He had a good game aside from the 2 fumbles. So...let's look at the fumbles. The first lead to 3 points...that didn't break the team's back. What killed the Skins was the 23 yard run he had called back right before the fumble.

The second, I remember happening, but I don't remember if the Raiders scored on the ensuing possession, while I believe they did, they shouldn't have. They took over at like their own 35 or 40. The D should have been able to stop them from scoring. In addition, I am of the belief that Clinton was down and the play should have been challenged, but that really doesn't matter now.

Finally, I would like to know what your solution to the "problem" with Clinton Portis would be. Start Ladell Betts who got hurt again? What about last week when Portis averaged around 6 yards a carry? He averaged over 4 this week, which isn't bad, he just had 2 giveaways, I know that hurt, but that's a particularly bad day. Niether of them killed the team. The D just needed to step up more than they did, and I agree that Joe should be putting teams away, but he plays tenative. You say the three points from the turnover did not break the teams back but we lost by three points. Its not Portis its everyone who is putting the ball on the ground.

What else is new did you bother to pull up the posts I made before the trade came down? No! because you only want to post what you want to hear, you know darn well I was dead set against the trade before it happened and insisted Portis was a system back time and again, and that for him to succeed we would have to institute the denver style blocking system, yes all before the trade was made, and you know it, you just didn't want to put it up there I wonder why? I said I believed Portis could run the counter trey as effective as our other 3rd down backs but wasen't an everydown type back for Gibbs system and the fact is you know those posts are out there, and yes before the trade, once the trade happened you hope for the best, but the fact is I alway's maintained I didn't like the trade and didn't want it, and you just refuse to put up post after post saying that, do me a favor if your incapable of putting up the whole truth then don't post any!

Whats the matter you couldn't fit every link backing my statement that I never wanted Portis on 1 page?

It's good to know you pay so much attention to what I have to say, kind of funny I never really gave your opinions a second thought that's how informative you are about football, must kill you to be such a fan and really have no real knowledge of the game, you were probably 1 heck of a cheerleader in your day.

I guess it's eating you up that I was right about Portis from the get go.

1 post trying to find something to hang our hat's on with that trade doesn't trump or erase a 100 saying otherwise, why don't you post them if you really are looking to find truth?

Bottom line my statement was I didn't want him to begin with, pull up some posts before the trade, and see what I was saying. we both know what they will say because if they said otherwise you would have posted them.

I do have to admit though Portis isn't remotly as good as I had hoped to give him credit for in that post, glad to see your still on the Portis band wagon though, that is until Gibbs tells you to think otherwise!

You say time and time again how you're so smart and you know it all. And you always said this and said that. And everything is well documented and you're right....it is well documented. Such as in the post I linked where you say that Gibbs is the perfect fit for a Gibbs offense. I don't see the term "denver system" anywhere in there. I don't deny that you were against getting him. I know you were. http://thewarpath.net/showpost.php?p=367&postcount=65

But being against the trade isn't the same as saying Portis wouldn't fit in this offense. There are plenty of people I'm sure who would say that Brunell fits well with this offense, but it wasn't worth the money and 3rd rounder?

Like everyone else on this site I know plenty about football. But more importantly, I, like everyone else, knows there's a lot that I still have to learn. And we're not afraid to admit it when we're wrong. We're not so insecure that we can't. Well all of us, except for one person. Wonder who that is?

But, in an effort to ease the tension here I will take off my moderator cap for a minute and I'd like to sing you a song (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-516445979491966758&q=%22south+park%22)

That song was probably a bit out of line. Conduct not befitting a moderator. I apologize

Just shut your mouth jabroni! If you never gave TAFKAS's opinion or anybody else's opinion a second thought, you'd wouldn't be posting retorts trying to make yourself out to be some kind of genius when it comes to football. If this was the case, you'd be coaching an NFL team right now and winning Super Bowls. But, since neither is happening, your opinions are just what they are, opinions. You might dress them up as fact to suit yourself, but the rest of us are fully aware that they mean about as much to us as the chewing gum stuck to the bottom of your velcro sneakers.

Just so I can be in awe of your great football knowledge, please tell me what makes you such a "football man" and not a "football fan". Really what are your accomplishments that alow you to make such statements? I would think that with someone of your self-proclaimed greatness would be working with a NFL team and guiding them to the next super bowl.
