BleedBurgundy 11-20-2005, 06:01 PM This is a discussion forum, so it wouldn't be much without the discussion... but there's something to be said for intelligent discourse as opposed to knee jerk reactions. I don't think anyone expects a lot of high hopes after a tough loss, but the complete overreactions that are becoming more and more commonplace on this site are starting to get annoying. Honestly, if you're thought is "I hate this fucking team so much, our coach is an idiot and our QB is the worst in the NFL..." why do you consider yourself a Redskins fan? These comments are not aimed at any level-headed critics on the site, just those who have zero to add except for constant negativity.
TheMalcolmConnection 11-20-2005, 06:04 PM I agree that complete overreactions are unwarranted, but I truly believe this is it. Even if we WERE to make the playoffs through some galatic miracle, we're far too streaky to do anything.
BleedBurgundy 11-20-2005, 06:06 PM I agree with that. I was just referring to the fairweather fans out there who seem to only follow the redskins so that they have something to bitch about. It gets to be like, "ok, you're dissappointed, I get it. Is there anything intelligent to add? No? Move on."
skinsguy 11-20-2005, 06:10 PM BB,
I hear ya about the knee jerk reactions, but take it from someone who has been accused of being blindly optimistic, I believe our season is in grave danger after today's loss. It's not necessarily the mathematical aspect as it is as much an aspect of emotion and confidence. I believe this loss took alot out of this team today. I believe our defense is falling apart and probably the overall team morale is probably quite low at this point.
Don't get me wrong, I have alot of faith in Coach Gibbs, but I think there are obvious holes that still need to be filled, and at this point, we're not ready to be a playoff team quite yet.
TheMalcolmConnection 11-20-2005, 06:13 PM Uh oh. All of us optimists are starting to pack up shop. :(
Oh well, maybe we'll find someone good in the second round.

I had the thought that the strength of this team was to win the close games, but that's not happening. That's not proving to be the case. At this point, I'm actually looking to the mathematical aspect to give me hope, because, as you said, I don't see intangibles...
SUNRA 11-20-2005, 06:15 PM We all know when the shit hits the fan, a lot of so-called fans take off their jerseys. Some take off of work and just soak in depression. I 'm built a lot different than that. I have watched this team beat the teams they should have loss to and get embarrassed by the ass out teams that shouldn't even be on the same field as us. But that's football and why we watch it every week. Gibbs and Williams have got to sit down and re-evaluate the offense and defense from the top to the bottom. Their should be a half-season evaluation of each and every player and the conclusion should be quick and decisive. Frost, Jacobs and Harris should be replaced immediately. Lastly, we have to get a pass-rushing DT as soon as the draft begins next year.

Not packing up shop mind you, just looking at the big picture. I really, honestly, hope I get to eat a big, big helping of crow when the Redskins do make the playoffs, but Gibbs is going to have to shake things up big time this week if we still have a shot at making the playoffs.
RedskinRat 11-20-2005, 06:16 PM I've been positive since we first lost Coach Gibbs, I've had enough.
Now I'm being realistic. We're a bad team.
TheMalcolmConnection 11-20-2005, 06:16 PM I completely agree. Harris has dropped off immediately and Frost hasn't been doing shit when we need a big return (hoping for a Tupa return next year). Jacobs got his chance and didn't do much, whether it was a game plan thing or a "he's just not good" thing.
