I think we have a shot at the playoffs, we just need to force more turnovers, give away less turnovers, and fix the big play problem on defense. While that may sound like a lot, I truly believe we can do it. Our game against Tampa Bay, while it was a heartbreaking loss that we know we should've won, showed me some things. The main one was that, had we won, I believe there wouldn't have been a huge focus on the things we did wrong this week. If we had won, we would've taken a couple days off and then gotten ready for Oakland. Now, our guys are gonna be working their ass off in practice to correct the mistakes. The way I see it, we should go something like this for the rest of our games:
Vs. Raiders: win, i give the edge to us mainly because all the Raiders have working for them is offense, while we have both offense and defense. Hopefully we have either Taylor or Griffen ready by then.
vs. Chargers: I say 50/50. It depends on whether we shut down L.T., Gates, and Brees on offense. If we can do that, while sticking to the run game, I think we can win. If L.T. has a field day like other running backs had, easily a loss.
vs. Rams: the Rams have been going back to the run in recent weeks, but I think we can shut Steven Jackson down. If Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce are healthy by then, all we have to do is shut down their passing offense. I think we can do that, provided Carlos Rogers is ready by then, or Walt Harris gets some help covering his man. Our offense is good enough to run with any team, provided our defense keeps it close.
vs. Cardinals: win, easily. The cards don't have anything working for them, other than their kicker, Neil Rackers (who is doing kickass for me on my fantasy team), and we can shut down Boldin and Fitzgerald. they don't have a running game, and their defense isn't that good.
vs. Cowboys: 50/50. The Cowboys have their offense working for them, and their defense. I expect a close battle all day, and it might be a low scoring one. I think this one comes down to home field. We are gonna be loud. The fans have really affected opponents at Fedex this year. I think the winner of this game wins by less than a touchdown.
vs. Giants: 50/50. I really think the Redskins will be fired up to return what they gave to us at their home this year. The Giants have been great on offense all year. They have multiple weapons that we have to shut down. The main one is Tiki Barber. The defense really shut us down in the first game. But what we did against Tampa Bay's defense showed me that we can move the ball effectively against any team. I give the edge to the Giants because they were prepared for us last time.
vs. Philly. I think we can easily go in there and get a win. My friend is an Eagles fan, and i talked to him today, and he said that if we had been playing in Philly we would've lost by at least ten points. I pointed out that Eagles fans boo their own team more than opposing fans do. If McNabb is out by then, we have a big shot. Philly has a good defense, but they haven't been getting any pressure lately. With both McNabb and T.O. out, all we have to do is shut down Westbrook in the passing game and we have a win. Everyone knows Westbrook isn't an every down running back. I view him more as a receiver out of the backfield.
I think we finish at least 8-8. That isn't gonna be enough to get us into the playoffs, but that is the minimum as far as we are gonna go. We could even finish as good as 11-5 if we fix the mistakes. At this point, the only thing beating us is ourselves. Fix the mistakes and we can easily be a playoff team.
