...or does EVERY unknown, former Redskin or slumping player have a breakout game against the Redskins?
I can think of at least one person in each game barring the Bears and 49ers games that has done such a thing. Simms last night. Brown for the Eagles. Pierce for the Giants. Allen for the Chiefs. Bell for the Broncos. And the list goes on...
I, just as many of you felt completely sucker punched, as someone put it. Again, as is always the case with the Redskins, turnovers were the difference. Our points were scored and given away by the play of Mark Brunell. He had a not-so-great first half and an excellent second half. The defense can only do so much against a short field.
The positives that can be taken away from this are:
1) Portis didn't look like the "system back" that I feel that some were making him out to be.
2) Special teams kickoff return for a TD.
3) Brunell finding even more targets on offense.
4) Running and moving the ball at will (except in that last :54) against the #1 defense
We basically owned the Bucs in all senses of the word except in the turnover differential. The good thing is, the Giants lost, and hopefully the Eagles win tonight and even everything up.
It hurt, but to put it fairly simply, it ain't over by any means.
