Walt Harrisdiehardskin2982 11-13-2005, 11:33 PM harris sucks ass bring in Jimoah! skinsguy 11-13-2005, 11:37 PM First of all, I've always been a realist -- almost to the point of pessimism. I've seen the flaws of this team since week one, and I don't hesitate to point them out, even when they win. While the Skins are worlds apart from where they were a year ago, one area steps up and improves one week, while another segment takes a step back. Pass rush and turnovers continue to be a problem with no solution in sight, even with the wizard Joe Gibbs involved. I believe the history books will eventually tell the story of the 2005 Redskins as a "middle of the pack" team -- with a 'one and done' playoff appearance. As always though, I hope I'm wrong. I certainly agree that your pessimistic. If the Redskins are a middle of the pack team this year with at least one playoff game appearance, that is a whole heck of alot better than what we were just a year ago. That means improvement and progress. We're not going to change things overnight. Even if this team can only muster 9-7 or, gulp, 8-8, then it is still improvement and progress from what we were a year ago. That is something positive to build on. However, we still have seven more games to play this season, and anything can happen. Seeing the secondary running into each other and leaving a guy WIDE OPEN (thank god Simms didn't see him!) was really really bad. Get well soon Sean Taylor! I miss ya! railcon56 11-14-2005, 12:40 PM Sure helps when either Harris or Rogers can count on 'the dreamsquasher' Sean Taylor to make up for their lack of speed and experience. Well when someone goes down ...some one else needs to step up.... grab that opportunity..... i have thought from the beginning GW's defensive style is ok but it realy's too much on people being in the perfect psiyion all the time...ad what happens when 1 person gets blocked then they are in thier places and no one to back up...i see it a s a dream defense and that's what causes big plays dmek25 11-14-2005, 12:52 PM i really starting to think that im actually in with eagle fans with all the bitching and moaning going on here.last year we would have killed for 5 wins in our first 9 games with the thinking (not dreaming)that the playoffs are within reach.the reality of this years redskins is that, while they are good enough to beat any team any time, the flip side is that they could also lose to anyone at any time.i agree that walt harris was brutal yesterday, but as a team, they gave up 36 points to a very average tampa offense.we are starting to turn the corner, but coach gibbs does not quite have the right people in place yet.he is still trying to clean up a decade full of bad personal and salary cap decisions jermus22 11-14-2005, 01:43 PM Harris isn't the biggest problem. He has played poorly the last few weeks after a solid start to the year, but injuries may have something to do with it. Also, Rogers just needs time to develop (every rookie gets burned from time to time). My concern is with the lack of a pass rush; even our blitzes weren't getting to Simms. We need someone on that line (preferably Daniels or Wynn) to step it up. |
