Why oh why would we pass if we were averaging almost 8 yds per run?

Its funny how we lose because of defensive breakdowns, and all of a sudden Gibbs is at fault?

dmek - You throw a high percentage pass in that situation. No one wants a bomb down field. We want a quick curl or something in the flat that we can hit with ease. Do you really not think a play action in the same formation we used three times in a row would not have yielded a receiver with two yards? When it comes down to it, you go for the first down and control your own destiny by taking a knee instead of having to stop an offense that had been driving all over us yesterday.

The worst that can happen would be an INT return. That means we have more time to come back. I simply think a high percentage throw would have made more sense there because they knew it was a run without any doubt.

The only reason anybody is saying that a pass play should have been called is beacause the run that was tried didnt work. It called hindsight and as the OBC said "Hindsight is 50-50.".

daseal,do you really think we deserve to win when we cant pick up 2 yards?what do you think of tampas chances of scoring on us with less than 2 minutes to go and simms at q back?i say until our o line assumes the responsibilty of achieving two yards in these situations,we are what we are, a 500 ball club

Am I understanding you right? Are you saying we should have passed becase at worst the Bucs pick it off and return for a TD, and this is good because if they're going to score better to score quickly? As opposed to running it and getting a first down or not getting the first down but also not turning the ball over deep in Redskins territory.

The worst thing that could happen would be an INT return.

This is a joke, right?

Daseal,

Sorry, but that is absurd. You throw an INT on third down and it goes back for a TD, then you're going to put your offense on the field against the #1 defense in the league? With all due respect, that's crazy. While you might have more time to drive down the field for a field goal, you might also get forced to go three and out and to punt it back to the other team - giving them time enough to drive down the field to win the game with a field goal try.

In this case, the best thing to do is to burn the clock, and defend your lead. This falls squarely on the defense doing their job, and our defense didn't get the job done. This wasn't a let down by Joe Gibbs at all.

Just got back from Europe and just finished watching yesterday's heartbreaker. Comments:

1. Betts was out of bounds on the KO return. Bad call by refs but not enough visual evidence on tape to overturn.

2. Alstott was not in the end zone on the conversion. Bad call by refs but not enough visual evidence on tape to overturn.

3. Someone said we all "know the league hates Snyder" and has encouraged the refs to skew calls away from the Skins. I'll believe that next week when the Raiders are here. Here's what everyone knows: Tagliabue - and Rozelle before him - would like to have had Al Davis tarred and feathered. Now if the refs give a bunch of blatantly bad calls to the Raiders over the Skins, I'll start to believe - though it will still not be 100% - that there is a league-wide conspiracy out there.

4. Carlos Rogers has a LOT to learn about playing CB in the NFL. Trouble is that he won't learn it on the bench.

5. Arrington was "in the air" trying to slam Alstott on both of Alstott's TDs in addition to the 2-point conversion. It didn't work any of the three times.

6. Portis shredded a defense that is VERY good yesterday.

7. Derrick Dockery has not improved enough to convince me that he is a good starting offensive lineman in the NFL.

8. Damn, but Marcus Washington is a good linebacker!

9. Either Derrick Brooks was playing hurt yesterday or he has lost about a step and a half.

10. Cadillac Willliams looked like a Hyundai yesterday.
