For now, Clarett and Williams barred

SkinsnCanes:

Supplemental drafts are held about 50% of the time so holding a "second draft" is not mysterious for the NFL or for the GMs in the league.

You probably heard of Cris Carter. He was drafted by Philly in a supplemental draft so it is not just marginal players who get involved in those kinds of things.

The question is whether Clarett's lawyers or Williams' lawyers can get a court to order an injunction to bar the draft from happening on Saturday/Sunday. If so, we are in uncharted territory for the NFL; if not, then this case will make its way through the legal system in an orderly fashion.

I meant it will be easier for all the GMs if they just go in this draft. There are so many scenerios to work through as it is. And now with them not being in it it messes up all the boards. Well not so much Clarret, but M.Williams will.

from what's been reported on various stations, the appeal being upheld was innevitable and a lot of the people talking about it made it seem like it shouldn't have even gotten to a point of needing an appeal because the collective bargaining agreement between the nfl and the players association is exempt from the anti-trust laws.

it'll also probably a week or several before their final opinion is issued.

I must say, I am so excited that this is happening. I was very worried about how letting these young guys into the league and end up being the NBA.

I hope these kids get shipped back to college, or Mo Clarrett goes north to Canada, and stinks!

IF this does go to the supplimental draft, Williams will go in the first, I believe almost every team, even us, will draft him in a heart beat. Sadly, I wish they wouldn't draft him, but if they do, I could see them shipping Gardner off for a draft pick in next years draft, and even things out.

What do you guys think?

its too bad we can't find out the drafting spots for the possible supplemental draft before this weekend cuz if we knew we had the 1st pick in that, i think we could trade gardner for a pick or 2 in this draft to someone like san diego or baltimore.

Can you trade Supplemental draft picks. i doubt it since somone said that its usually done by just filling out a piece of paper of who you would pick and then the league just sorting it. Itd be cool to trade out supp pick to someone who wanted to risk the chance of getting Williams.

I don't see how you could trade a Supplemental Pick easily because there is no guarantee that there will be a supplemental draft in any given year and no indication of whare people will go.

Cris Carter went to the Eagles in the FOURTH ROUND of the supplemental draft. Since there were only about 2 or 3 players in that draft, that means that every team in the league passed on him at least 3 times - and some passed 4 times. If you take a player in the first round of the 2004 supplemental draft, you do not have a first round pick in the 2005 draft; in essence, you have already used it. And if you have already traded away your first round pick in 2005, you would not get a pick in the 2004 supplemental draft.

So, I don't understand what kind of deal you could make for a supplementla pick other than trading your pick when it is your turn to another team so they can make a pick right there.

I agree that the Redskins would trade gardner if they got williams, but what are there chances of even getting the first pick?

1 in 13 as one of the teams with 6 wins or less unless the report I read that explained it was incorrect.
