Season over?sniks 10-30-2005, 08:42 PM I too will be faithful to the end but this team is not a playoff team.Defense cant stop good runners.Offense just not there. skinsguy 10-30-2005, 08:46 PM No, the season isn't over. This was a tough, tough loss, but geez...we're only seven games into our season. This type of loss for us was a fluke. Plain and simple. BigSKINBauer 10-30-2005, 08:58 PM No it isn't over. lets not go crazy. we have a winning record and are only 1 dumb game behind. I think we can win our next FEW, i really do. eagles at home. Bucs with QB problems. Raiders Chargers at home, 4 easy games into a 3 game division stretch. I see us doing well until the 3 division games SUNRA 10-30-2005, 08:59 PM I haven't given up on a decent season, but it'll be very tough for us to make the playoffs. Every team we play from here on out will study today's film to learn how to shut us down and exploit our defense. Next Sunday's game is a must-win situation. I thought today's game would show what kind of team we were. Now I hope it was merely a fluke. Lets be clear here. We turned the ball over 4 times. Now a team can study all day and all night but if the Redskins don't turn the ball over they simply will not lose. In every game we have loss, we turned the ball over. Lets wait and see whose healthy enough to play and what the play calling is next week. I loved the play calling in the Denver, Kansas City and San Francisco games and I expect this team to be well-grounded after this loss. JWsleep 10-30-2005, 09:05 PM Sometimes you lose. Sometimes you lose big. Good teams find ways to gain strength and bounce back. It's a gut check time, but this is week 7 out of 16 for us. It's a marathon, not a sprint. We aren't as bad as this loss made it look, though we aren't as good as we looked against the 49-ers, as Williams said. Let's hope the loss lights a fire under them. 4-3--how could the season be over? And I have faith that Gibbs, Williams, and the rest will find a way to fix the problems. Gmanc711 10-30-2005, 09:28 PM I would feel alot worse about the rest of the season if I really thought we showed up to play today. Make no mistake about it, if this team just dosent show up to any other game this year, they will get their asses whooped just like they did today. I really dont think today was a refelction at all of how we are as a team. Honestly, I cant really take anything from this game, because I just dont think that was the Washington Redskins out there. I think we'll be able to get a better grip on the rest of the season after next weeks game against Philadelphia. coggs 10-30-2005, 09:32 PM I don't doubt that the G-men were super-motivated today by what transpired over the previous week, and I think we will beat them in the re-match. However, we have startling weaknesses on run blocking and the D-line, and it will cost us the playoffs. Well, I certainly don't think the Xmas-eve match-up will be a walk-over. It is 8 weeks away and that is an eternity in football. Today's win was great, a great atmosphere at the stadium, a great tribute to Wellington Mara, his granddaughter sang the national anthem. She is cute, looks like Nieve Campbell and the girl can sing, his other grandchildren were on the field with her. The Offense and defense looked like well-oiled machines today. Those of you who remember me from the old days know I am not want to savior victories for too long. I'll enjoy reading the papers tomorrow and talking about the game with my students, but by tomorrow afternoon I am thinking about San Francisco. As for the skins, it's games like this that test the leadership and heart of a team. A good team looks at the films, gets disgusted, learns from it, and comes out hungry. A bad team feels sorry for themselves and continues to glow in the San Fran game. Either way, this could be a turning point for the club. They get back to work and put together a good season, or they completely go in the tank. As for blame, look at your lines. The Giants were only rushing 4 most of the day and still got to Brunnell and Ramsey, and Tiki cut through the D line like a hot knife through butter. celts32 10-30-2005, 09:33 PM Today was as pathetic as it gets, but over? Come on...nothing is over. As bad as it was when you boil it down it was one road game within the division. We are not supposed to win all the road division games. I think the issue is more the way they played...but one loss is still only one loss whether it's by 1 point or 101 points. Even if they lose next week it's still not over... coggs 10-30-2005, 09:33 PM Lets be clear here. We turned the ball over 4 times. Even without the turnovers, the skins still lose convincingly. 36 points? No. But the Giants were having no trouble moving the ball and the skins did nothing on offense when they could hold onto it. coggs 10-30-2005, 09:34 PM Today was as pathetic as it gets, but over? Come on...nothing is over. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor???????? |
