I agree, but beating out Danny and Shane isn't enough to make it Ramsey's job (at least not yet!). We forget just how weak those guys were...

Remember guys. They didn't give Mark the huge contract for him not to start. The job's his to lose, and barring injury, I don't think he will.

Brunell did get injured last year. So either way dont count Ramsey out. We've got the depth we need to hopefully take it to the next level this year.

I'm a ramsey fan and have been since they drafted him and gave him the same # jersey I'd gotten as a customized jersey a couple monthes before he was drafted. that being said Brunnel is the better all around qb right now. he's what, 35+ years old and still has better feet than ramsey. he's a proven leader, accurate thrower with an underrated throwing strength. at their respective points in their careers, brunnel has a better vision of the field than Ramsey as well. I think some of these will begin to shift ramsey's way under the teachings of brunnel and gibbs in the next year or so and that he may even go in to relieve Brunnel sometime this year and win the job back. but isn't this comforting to most of you guys that we can actually have a fight over the team having two starting-quality qbs? especially after the past few years. I think I saw we've had something like 7 starting qbs over the past 5 years or something terrible like that.

if I remember right it was his elbow(a laceration or something) and it was healed up 3 or 4 weeks after it happened. the injury was just an excuse for the Jaguars to have leftwich starting.

I think Gibbs will give it to whoever he believes performs best at camp. With that said, if it's close, Gibbs will go with the veteran. And, as I think it will be a close competition, I think the job will go to Brunnell.

I think Ramsey sits this year and the first part of next. At some point, Brunnell is gonna get hurt (maybe later this year or early next) and Ramsey is going to come in and that will be the end or Brunnell's starting career - regardless of the money being paid. Ramsey has the tools and mentality to do the job well. The only question in my mind is whether or not his field vision and decision making will improve enough to take the next step.

Having a rocket for an arm and being tough does not make you a great QB. Look at Drew Bledsoe. The Bills are looking to cut him. Bledsoe was replaced in New England by Tom Brady, a low round draft pick that doesn't have the arm strength that Bledsoe has. But Tom Brady is smart, can read defenses, senses the pass rush, can escape and is great at executing his offense. You do not have to throw the ball 100 yards to be great. The dump off pass is important too. Two super Bowl wins later, New England does not need a rocket armed QB.
Ramsey needs to develop under the eye of Gibbs, QB coach and Brunell. As soon as Ramsey learns to unload the pass sooner, improve his foot speed and be aware of the pass rush, he will be a star. Until then, he is not ready to take us to the SB.

I can see that Ramsey's is unproven, and the safe bet is Brunnell, but what has Brunnell done to prove he has the ability to take us to a SB? I know he has lost 2 championship games, and coughlin loved him so much he fought with management to get rid of him, so as far as Im concerned he has as much to prove as Ramsey, I could care less about his number's, winning championship's is what count's, and he was on 2 team's that had an opportunity to go to a SB and he couldn't get the job done, can he do it under gibb's? Maybe, but I think patrick has just as much of an opportunity as well, I also think PR has more QB instinct's, the kid is a naturaul, where as Brunnell relied on his leg's for a lot of his success, and I don't think at his age his leg's are going to bail him out that much any more.

I agree with Offis. How is Brunell at all proven yet? He just sat out almost an entire season, and has had major injury problems. I think it should be a open competition, but as far as I'm concerned, I think Ramsey has the edge in pure physical ability, Brunell has an advantage in experiance. Ramsey has been in the league two years, he has learned alot so far. I dont think there is any reason to belive that Brunell will be better than Ramsey for this team, until he proves it in Camps and in the games.

. Id still rather have Ramsey becausae hes been with us for two years now and I think learned a lot from Spurrier. The potential is there, I hope he gets the chance to show it.[/QUOTE]
What do you think SS taught him??? How to get sacked?? I think that Spurrier might have actually set him back!!! I love Ramsey but I don't know if he is ready to run Gibbs system. It's defiantly a luxury to have to quality QB's on our roster.
