All we have to do is stop shooting ourselves in the foot with turnovers and penalties that kill drives, and we can be one of top 10 maybe top 5 teams in the NFL. I hope all the naysayers realize that Gibbs is STILL a great offensive mind and that we have a legit chance to make it to the playoffs......maybe even win our division.
The offense has gotten better and better each week and I expect that to continue. We were real close to scoring 4 td's this week if it wasn't for the fumble on the first drive.

Those are very respectable numbers. Especially against the GOOD teams we have played. Our road schedule is a killer and to lose and still put up those kind of numbers is very encouraging. Cut out turnovers, we win. That simple.
Turnovers and the 'D' giving up big plays are the two problem areas right now.
Hopefully we can get both areas fixed really quick, otherwise we could be looking at a 7 or 8 win team when we should be looking at 10 or 11 wins.

Those numbers are nice but they dont show TDs and the reality is that this team is not scoring much more than last years team. This team needs to score more points.

Good post Matty. The numbers do matter and paint a positive picture of our team and how far the team has come. We have had some bad plays, but one thing I know about this team is they will address them. It is not week after week the same people it is fluke incidents. We are that good it seems that we can overcome a couple turnovers (not that I want that to happen), but if we can get the short field once or twice during the game after a turnover to help our offense it will improve the TD's. We look at turnovers, but if we do look at all the 3 and outs we have had it does not leave a lot of time in drives to get turnovers. Yesterday we had a int that was deleted due to penalty and a big stick by ST that had the ball flying sky high and just fell into a KC players arms another hit Walt in the hands and dropped the opportunities are there. The ball will fall our way we have the talent and the numbers that are very evident this year.

All you have to do is look at what teams we've played have achieved.
Bronco's, Seahawks, yesterday for instance.....
WE'RE SO MUCH BETTER THAN LAST YEAR!

Actually Matty I think without the turnovers the big plays go away. Without the turnovers we score like 4 touchdowns on our first four drives. Once we do that its over with our dee teeing off on the oponents QB and Lavar gets in the game!!!! Everyone is happy. Those turnovers Sunday were an aberration plus pass protection broke down a little bit though. Still not rock solid but we are getting there. Once all these details work themselves out we are on pace to be the best team in the league real soon maybe next year maybe playoff time this year?

My one concern, as I mentioned in another thread: TOs can be corrected, poor O-line pass protection can be corrected, BUT WE'RE NOT BEING ABLE TO RUN THE DAMN BALL!!!!. People respect our passing game enough for Portis to get some good runs in, but he keeps stumbling his way through games.
Half the time, he runs into one of our own O-linemen upfield. The one counter trey where Thomas and Jansen pulled, but Dockery and Rabach didn't pull the other way looked disastrous as Portis was tackled in the backfield for a loss.
Worst of all, Portis looks banged up - not because of that cut on his lips, but because he keeps limping on and off. I wouldn't mind him being rested against San Fran and coming back healthy for the Giants.
