LadyT 10-16-2005, 09:35 PM I'm sorry, but Lavar isn't going to fix the problem with injuries in our secondary. I would like to see Lavar playing just to settle the argument, but before we go saying the coaches are lying to us, I suggest we get a pass to attend practices and team meetings, etc....
First, we were being told that he wasn't healed enough to play even though he said he was physically ready. Then, the story changed to how he would play when the right "packages" were called. Now, they've abandoned that sorry excuse too.
So, tell me, what are the fans supposed to believe except that they've come up with excuse after excuse, none of which made any sense.
Today's WP article said it all and there was blame to be laid on both sides. Even several currnet players (who for good reason asked to be anonymously quoted) said LA needs to be given the chance to play again.
LadyT 10-16-2005, 09:41 PM If this is not about the money, the front office is crazy. I'll comment more in a new post.
You hinted at something that I've wondered about too, much as I hate to think it. I do believe that LA hurt himself immensely with the contract dispute he started last year. I think the bad feelings have definitely carried over and may be influencing a bit of what is happening now, but I really don't know for sure. I was mad at LA last year too - felt he brought a frivolous grievance against the Skins for a mistake that he and his agent made when they signed the contract extension.
But, I don't believe that should play any part in whether or not the man gets to play and contribute to the team, especially with the "D" having problems in getting to the QB and in forcing turnovers.
Whatever the reason, I just can't believe that LA's abilities have so declined that he is legitimately the 5th or 6th string linebacker now. That is laughable.

If fans are supposed to believe what the media says, I feel sorry for those fans. For now, I'll be wiser to trust the coaches over what "he said she said." If Lavar plays, he plays, if he doesn't, exactly what do you expect to do about it?

That is my whole point about this arrington thing ..they act like he some scrub with no talent..he has more physical skills than anyone on that ..team and desire and fire.... he loves the game and loves winning... holding grudges is so petty and non professional... thats why i dislike williams and if u cant see this defense falling week by week you arent watching the same game...these linebackers are getting pushed around ..Lavar wont get pushed round...are we there to win or prove points??? AND HOW MANY REASONS HAVE WE HEARD I DONT BELEIVE ANY OF THEM
skinsguy 10-16-2005, 10:13 PM Arrington might not get pushed around, he'll just over-persue and get caught out of position like he does from time to time. The biggest thing that people aren't seeing is the fact that Arrington isn't a victim - heck he's played the holding grudges card quite a bit everytime something didn't go his way.
The coaches are trying to get him to be more disciplined in his play. Are we willing to have Lavar be out of position 70 to 80% of the time to get one or two big plays? I would like to see Lavar being an overall well rounded player. I would like to see Lavar out there playing, to settle this foolish argument once and for all!

What a silly comment. Of course, as a fan, there is absolutely nothing I can do about decisions the coaches are making. That doesn't mean I can't be damned frustrated at what is happening.
I would love GW to look every fan in the face and say with a straight face that Lavar can no longer contribute meaningfully to the team and that's why he isn't playing. Or else to look us in the face and say "I truly believe Lavar is the 5th or 6th best LB on the team and that's why he's not playing." But he can't and won't say either thing, because neither one is the truth.
I just want this team to win and I think Lavar can help them to do so. The "D" is struggling and his been for the past 2 weeks. With each game, they seem to struggle more and more. They need another physical player that can force things to happen - just like S. Taylor. And Lavar is the ONLY one on the "D", other than ST, who can do that. To keep him on the bench virtually the entire game, every game, is CRAZY.
SUNRA 10-16-2005, 10:25 PM I have tried to reserve my feelings about the Arrington-Redskins situation, but two defeats in the same way has forced me to express my opinion. First of all, we need Lavar Arrington. 12 million dollars is to be paid next year. Who do the Redskins think will pick up that tab? The actions of the staff is similar to what use to happen to actors who pissed off higher authorities in the Hollywood. They called it "white listing" which basically means you don't work if they can help it. Unfortunately, we the devoted fans are caught up in this fiascal which will continue so long as our defense gives up big plays against mediocre teams. Some how we will see Lavar make a statement on the field. Hopefully soon.
railcon56 10-16-2005, 10:37 PM Ty for finally speaking out... Hold your horses people are going to be coming out of the woodwork now... its crazy beyond belief to see LaVar on the side lines while those people start ahead of him....

I personally think this whole discussion of Lavar Arrington is silly and a waste of time.

All I ask, is prove they're lying. I just believe it's quite silly to accuse the coaches of lying when they're around the team 100% of the time, we just see what we see on Sundays.

My question is, where were you to complain when we were 3-0? Or even when we were 3-1? Will you be on here complaining if get on another 3 or 4 game winning streak, or if we finish the season at 10-6 and make the playoffs? What do you have to say about us being 3-2? Do you not believe that is an improvement over the 1-4 we were at last year? Do you not feel good knowing Mark Brunell is playing pretty well for us? Do you not believe our team is heading in a better direction than what it appeared like last year?
It's a great time to be a conspiracy theorist.
Did LaVar really land on the moon?
Was LaVar really the lone gunmen?
Lordy!
