The deadline to make a trade is set for next week. I do not mean to spark any talk about crazy trade proposals (i.e. Ramsey and Arrington for a 1st and 3rd round draft pick), but the topic is thread-worthy.
The only possible trade that I think might warrant some consideration is a trade for Chargers guard Toniu Fonoti. The NFL Network has reported that Fonoti is on the market. Fonoti is perhaps the league's best young guard and the word on the street is that he could be obtained at a bargain price (mid-round draft pick). However, he is coming off an injury, is in the last year of his rookie contract, and will command a ton of dollars.
Although Derrick Dockery has potential, I have yet to see him develop into a very good offensive giard. I can come up with a lot of reasons why he should not be replaced, but Fonoti is an interesting player. What do you think?

In my humble opinion, I think if we decided to pick up an extra offensive lineman or two, it would be for depth reasons. I think Dockery is playing relatively well enough and tying up alot of money into another guard is just not what the Redskins need to do....but certainly stranger things could happen. If we had to pick up anybody in midseason, I believe we'd need to concentrate on the defensive line. We need more pass rushing linemen to get more pressure on the QB and to allow GW to take pressure off the secondary that is already thin as it is.

i think we stick with dockery. dockery has been with this o-line for what, 3 years? he's comfortable with his place, and they are comfortable with him. trading for fonoti wouldn't make the rest of the o-line comfortable, so i say we stick with dockery. besides, he hasn't been that bad this season, our o-line has been performing great recently, except for the dallas game.

I actually think that Dockery is good enough to keep his job. But, for anyone who has followed Fonoti's career, he is a very interesting player; the guy is a absolutely dominant guard.

I don't see any reason NOT to sign him for depth if he comes at a reasonable price.

he's not on the free agent market though, we'd have to trade for him. i'm not willing to give up something for him, i'm comfortable with our o-line depth.

Yeah...at a reasonable price, but if RF is right, that probably wouldn't happen.

mid season trades rarely happen, wouldnt put too much thought into trades this time of year

This isn't the NBA or MLB...plug-and-play doesn't fly in the NFL. Only desperate teams (i.e. the Saints) or ones with players to spare make trades at this point in the game and I don't see us having players to spare.

even if we get someone, they'd have to learn the gameplan and figure out their teammates. I don't think a good DE is up for trade, and if we could get one, it could easily be 6 weeks before they hit the field.
