back in the eighties we were or i was drunk with the success, just having a winner that could win superbowl was something new, yes, george allen had success but he like schottenheimer never won it all becuase he played not to lose. i don't remember any negative thoughts from back then. it's along season, but i'm enjoying the feel in the air.we've turned the corner. and now we can watch with joy those mouths that have run unchecked begin to be silenced.i know there is more to work on but gibbs has it going again.now thqat we have a strong foundation we sit back and watch the mansion be raised.

It would have been cool to have a site like this back in the 80s just to see the disagreements people had with Gibbs's decisions as he put together Super Bowl teams
You'd probably have people that would give Bobby Beathard all the credit and would make themselves believe that Gibbs was just plugged in there to have a coach standing on the sidelines.
I think it's quite accurate to say that some don't know how to handle success. Or at least has forgotten how it feels.

I think I might be the most negative person on this site....just ask Malcolmconnection. But I agree with the positive spin here! Althought we lost @ Denver I do like the way we are playing football......we look solid. Not spectacular but solid. This is the biggest game of the year so far. We win this game and go 4-1 with San Fran & Alex Smith coming to town we are looking 5-1 right in the face and also looking good for the playoffs.......yep the playoffs.

56Fan is right! I think alot of Redskins fans has had so much to complain about for so many years that some will try to find something to complain about even when things are going well.
Hey skinsguy, I see you're from Basset. I am living in Martinsville right now.
Anyway, I see nothing but our team getting better every week. Hopefully by the end of the season Brunell will be chucking em up there like Rypien and Moss will start in the Pro Bowl. Obviously McNabb or Vick will start at QB. I really think we're on to something this year if we can keep our oline and cbs healthy.

Welcome Skindogger47! It's always nice to see a hometown fan keeping me company here on the warpath! I'm trying to move into the city. My fiancee and I are looking for a house in Martinsville!
I also see Moss being the pro bowl - as long as we have a winning season!

I personally think that Moss will make the Pro-Bowl regardless of whether or not we have a winning season. The guy leads the NFC in yards per game. Moss has almost 500 yards in four games (or 1/4 of a season). Those are All-Pro, Hall of Fame (not that he should have his bust made yet) numbers.

I like this thread....Let's be positive! I agree with someone who said something to the effect of we are so used to being disappointed and being negative, we don't know or have forgotten how to be more positive and just enjoy having a winning team.
Of course that doesn't mean everything is perfect and any issues shouldn't be discussed. But we are 3-1 and have won two games (almost 3) that most "experts" (and some fans) had probably put down as losses for the Skins before the season (Dallas and Seattle). Keep that up and playoffs here we come!
To anyone too young to remember, welcome to true Joe Gibbs Redskin football! Grind it out and win tough games, building confidence, which leads to dominating games more often and not having to win it in the 4th quarter all the time.
Hail to the Redskins!!!

I agree. Who would have known that the team that benefitted most from "the Moss trade" would be the Redskins with the "other" Moss? :biggthump

I think I look at from the standpoint of teams with losing records get the short end of the stick when it comes to players going to the pro bowl, despite the players' individual play being more than good enough for a pro bowl selection. I mean come on...look at all the Eagles who were in the pro bowl last year...and we could only get one player from our #3 defense to the pro bowl? That's why I say a winning record has alot to do with who goes to the pro bowl and who doesn't.

For the most part I agree with you. However, Coles went to the Pro Bowl when we went 5-11 and Coles didn't have the kind of numbers that Moss looks like he is going to have.
