skinsguy 11-24-2005, 08:31 PM The only thing we need to do is not turn the ball over. Other than that, our offense is just fine. It's our defensive line that we need to work on. And for the record, I think Lavar has performed rather well since being inserted back into the lineup.
randyredskin 11-25-2005, 11:30 AM the skins have had this red zone problem for the past couple seasons. whenever we get into the red zone, i cringe. most of the time it is an incompletion on first down, run for a few yards on second, and either a sack or incompletion on third down, or its a turnover. :frusty: as far as lavar is concerned, we should switch to a 3-4 defense and use him as a pass rushing de & use washington, marshall, holdman and mccune as our lbs
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 11-25-2005, 03:30 PM How about....not get blown out.
SUNRA 11-25-2005, 08:37 PM The Redskins are ranked 25th in total scoring and have a low redzone performance, can anyone tell me why haven't they used Nehemiah Broughton in the redzone to punch it in. I know, he has fumbled.... but I'll contribute that to preseason and rookie mistakes. He's on the active roster and atleast worth a shot.
I also feel we need some more corners. Especially after the last game, we have only 4 active corners and 2 of them were hurt agianst Denver. We also have 5 safeties, and 7 Linebackers. I'm sad to say it but, if we r not going to use Lavar lets deactivate him and move up a corner from the practice squad.
Turnovers to me are about taking a risk and making a play. To me, that is what Lavar's game is all about. I think that him not being on the field with some major minutes effects the turnover ratio directly. He brings pressure to the QB's and has the ability to move from sideline to sideline effortlessly. We need to get him in there.
What does the Warpath think. Could we being using the roster better, or is coaching staff doing the right thing?
If the Redskins are 25th in total scoring that's not attributed to not scoring in the redzone. Going into the Raiders game the Redskins were 11 out of 15 in scoring TDs and that's not bad. In fact, we have scored more TD's in the redzone than any place else on field. While I understand your concern for not putting up a lot of points on teams, when they have put up 19, 21 and 35 points in losses, the defense let every team back into the game. This has to be taken into account especially when the defense is not forcing turnovers which would contribute to better field position and not having to spend so much time in long drives in the beginning of the game.

The Redskins have been more successful in the redzone than any place else on the field. Mike Sellers has scored 5 TDs , Portis 4 , Betts 1, and Moss 1 in the redzone. That's 11 out of 15 times in the redzone.

I understand your points and they are valid. But, perhaps the defense wouldn't have to force turnovers if our offense wasn't coughing so many up. We've still got a defense that the majority of head coaches would kill for. As for our offense, I'm not so sure how many coaches would trade their offense for ours.
44deisel44 11-26-2005, 09:19 AM We just need both sides of the ball to show up!!! Other than giants game, cant say we had a game where both sides played poorly.

The only thing that is wrong with our offense is the turnovers. With the exception of last week, our offense has had no problems putting up points. We eliminate the turnovers, we win out. It's that simple.

We've scored less than 20 points in regulation in the following games:
Chicago (9)
@Dallas (14)
Seattle (17)
@ Denver (19)
Philly (17)
Oakland (13)
We've done okay in the following game:
@ Kansas City (21)
We've scored a lot of points in the following games:
San Francisco (52)
@Tampa Bay (35)
Our offense is averaging 20 points per game. That puts us as the 21st scoring offense in the league. That's not good. Basically, we've demonstrated the ability to get points on the board, but we've also demonstrated total inconsistency.

I think Brunell, Moss, Cooley and Portis are in the top ten for offensive players in the league. I'm sure people would kill to have them on their team because of course they think the players could be used more effectively than the way the Redskins use them.
