#56fanatic 10-11-2005, 09:20 AM Gibbs will not coach out this contract, its 5 years. This man, as much as I love him, would not medically be able to finish it. He will probably coach this year and next, especially if we make the playoffs this year and improve next year deeper in playoffs or go to the big one! GW will take over after next year. if not he will explore opportunities else where. He will not stay a d-coordinator for more that 2 more years. fact!
skinsguy 10-11-2005, 09:21 AM It's funny how you guys think Joe Gibbs is on his death bed or something. He's not even the oldest head coach in the league.
Gibbs will be here 5 years. All the speculation regarding his health is just that, speculation.
He's probably healthier than he was 15 years ago.
The only way I see him stepping down prior to that is if the Skins win it all.
#56fanatic 10-11-2005, 09:28 AM off on so many points. Gibbs worked with Air Coreyal(sorry if spelled wrong) in san diego before making a jump to DC. He also was a offensive coordinator in college. His offenses is what drove the old san diego chargers, Kellon Winslow Sr, joyner, all those air it out offenses. when he came to DC, he tried that and realized he didn't have the personal and chose to get riggins and use the O-line given and pound the ball. Gibbs is very much a great coach when it comes to offense. He uses the players to their ability and strengths and builds an offense. No way is GW a better coach than Gibbs, give me a break, Williams hasn't won squat! Good, maybe great D-coach, but mediocore head coach.
#56fanatic 10-11-2005, 09:32 AM Joe is not on his Death bed, but being as old as he is, and diabetic, is not a recipe for success, especially the way he works very late every night. He is prone to those attacks. He doesn't eat well and dont forget his wife, she said he wasn't going to do this for long. Joe is probably in better shape than me, but he can't continue to work 20 hours a day, and eat like crap and expect to STAY healthy. Until then, hes a hall of famer and we are lucky he is our sideline, AGAIN!!
LOL are you hanging out at Redskins Park?
How do you know what he eats?
LOL
gortiz 10-11-2005, 10:32 AM I got a good friend who is a die-hard B-lo fan and lived there when G-williams was coaching, he said the local media had reports of Williams being worse than a drill sargent - he woke up players by banging trash cans, he ran I think it was 12 two-a-days in a preseason once , he was a maniac.
Plus, can you imagine what Williams will think of our fans when we break out crazy, conspiracy theory type BS? He will crap on us! At least Joe embraces us and makes us feel wanted!
Dogtag 10-11-2005, 10:42 AM It is strange how people can see the same event in different perspectives. I see Coach Gibbs attitude as a display of maturity, discipline and poise ... not a lack of passion.
I also would be very supportive of Coach Williams becoming head coach of the Skins after Coach Gibbs retires.
As for fearing your head coach, that is not a sign of a growing and developing relationship in a professional level. I think that is what Coach Gibbs is trying to impart to his team ... Fear does not win games - discipline and integrity win games.
