FRPLG 10-10-2005, 11:57 PM I am not a big name caller but at the risk of sounding petty and bitchy anyone who thinks Lavar should be playing or that Lavar isn't playing for any other reason than performance issues is just plain retarded.
I'd love one of you morons to say to Williams' or Gibbs' face that Lavar isn't playing because of some contract dispute. I think Gibbs' might punch you and I imagine Williams' might have Sean Taylor kill you. How anyone can think that either of those guys would sacrifice the supposed playmaking ability that you all seem to think we cannot live without to the detriment of the team is mind boggling.
And to think that somehow the coaches just don't seem to understand how Lavar JUST HAS TO PLAY because he is so great is only slightly less moronic. You see anyone on our defense that freelances? No. Why not? Because their ass is on the bench when they do. Williams' defense is predicated on 11 guys doing their job. If the 11 guys play together and everyone does their job then the defense is going to win the battle. If one guy blows an assignment for any reason then they are screwed. Why? Because the other 10 guys are doing their job and don't have the ability to drop what they're doing to pick up someone else's mistake. There is no "Package" where they can just put Lavar in to rush the QB constantly. They'll get burned as soon as every team watches the tape and sees that all he does is rush the QB. He has to be able to play IN THE SCHEME otherwise he brings nothing but risk with little reward.
Longtimefan 10-11-2005, 02:10 AM It's that #56 Jersy they purchased, it "DEMANDS" that he plays. I'm still wearing #28.
well, now that we've got him shipped out of D.C.:FIREdevil
RedskinNation21 10-11-2005, 02:40 AM [QUOTE=Mattyk72]Ugh, this is seriously turning in to Ramsey/Brunell all over again.
There is no comparison right here like Ramsey/Brunell. Holdman is nowhere close to the caliber player as LaVar. When GW came in last year he made a point in saying he was moving LaVar back to Weak side LB so he could freelance and make big plays. Now all of a sudden he doesn't want that. What has Holdman done that has saved a game. I did see him out of position when Tatum broke that second run. LaVar would have broke those blocks and he would have been stopped and WE WIN! Nobody can tell me that Holdman or Clemons can be trusted more. Weakside LB is not like Middle or Strongside. If LaVar was in the middle, I could totally understand where GW is coming from. If nobody remembers, but Warrick was picked up this last offseason and LaVar has been learning this system as long as anyone else so I dont buy that they can't trust him. We need LA and thats it. Please dont compare it to Brunell/Ramsey....

I have seen Lavar over persue play's time and again and get burned, there's no way to know if he makes those plays on Bell.
The funny part about this whole thing is Lavar doesn't seem to want to listen to Williams, apparently he continues to believe he knows more than GW and refuses to do what's asked of him, he's his own worst enemy.

so... you're right and anyone that disagrees is retarded? that's an intelligent way to argue ;)

The simple comparison is this, here we are yet again openly questioning the decision making of this staff, and in some extreme cases questioning our coaches integrity saying this decision is somehow personal and/or to feed someone's ego.
I have no problem with someone not agreeing with the decision, after all that's what we're here for. But to hear some people take it to such extremes as to question the knowledge and integrity of our coaches is really ridiculous and a slap in the face to what these guys are all about.
Saying you don't agree is one thing, but saying that Williams doesn't know what he's doing, he's hurting the team by not playing him, etc., etc., is laughable.
These same kind of comments were directed towards Gibbs when he benched Ramsey, and look how that has turned out. That should have been enough to show us that hey, maybe these coaches know what they're doing after all.
If we can't trust the coaches who can we trust?
#56fanatic 10-11-2005, 09:41 AM This not playing LaVar crap is getting out of control. Us loyal Washington Redskin fans deserve to know why he is not playing. We are paying all of their salaries, by buying and selling out everygame. We are the best fans in NFL and deserve to know why he isn't playing. I am sick of the speculation, the he said this and that crap. LaVar is a 3 time pro-bowler, he did not forget how to play football. He went through 5 different d-coordinators and still made probowl after probowl, after probowl. They keep saying he isn't disciplined enough for this D, Well dont the players love it because its more aggresive, more attack style? Isn't that what LaVar does best, attack the QB. You can not tell me, Clemons is a better pass rusher that LA, thats just not true. There is an underlying reason why he isn't playing, the salary, the knee, something. He deserves it as well as we do. this is rediculous. The man has been the face of the organization for 5 years, and now is nothing? If they are trying to trade him, going to drop him, not playing him to reduce the salary cap hit because of insentives in his contract, something has to give, and we all deserve to know what it is!!
I do have faith in Gregg Williams scheme, but it's hard to believe the words that come out of their mouth when the article in the Washington Times today has comments like this:
"But Coach Joe has been trying to set a certain tone since he returned to Washington, and he'll go to any lengths to accomplish his objective. If he has to bench a three-time Pro Bowl linebacker, a $6 million-a-year man, to get his point across, he'll do it."
But yeah, LaVar not playing has everything to do with his on field performance and nothing to do with spite or ego...
What does this have to do with ego or spite??
To me this screams that no individual player is above the goals of the team.
Simple as that.
If this benching had to do with spite or ego, it would be a hollow move, meaning that there would be no solid rationale behind it other than to feed Gibbs' ego. The very sound of that is absolutely ridiculous to me.
Gibbs and co. always have the team's best interests in mind. We may not know the entire story, but we can be sure there are solid reasons why LaVar is riding pine.
If you think otherwise, fine, but that tells me you really don't understand what Gibbs is all about.
#56fanatic 10-11-2005, 09:46 AM thats what I am talking about!!, somebody who shares my feelings. This is a load of crap man. Like I said in my little tyrate, LaVar has not forgotton how to play football.
