Sounds like the picture is getting a little clearer with Arrington... the defensive staff just doesn't trust him enough to stay true to the schemes. When that happens, he'll play, simple as that.
They're trying to break him down, get rid of his bad habits and build him back up.

On NFL Network last night, they briefly discussed the LaVar issue and showed some highlights as evidence of the fact that LaVar freelances and plays out of position. Two of the plays they used as evidence occurred during the Bears opener, and LaVar was absolutely way out of position and the play went for a big gain. We all love LaVar, but he has played by his own set of rules in the past.

I agree. Based on what we've heard from the coaches themselves, if he listens and is as "Mr. Redskin" as he describes himself to be, he'll know that his hits/stats will come if he stays within the system.
