All Arrington All The Time (Mega Merge Club Mix)

The LaVar thing is confusing. The man says he's 100% and ready to go. I love the Redskins,always will, but I just dont see how not playing him is the best thing. Joe was talking about our turnover ratio not being that good. When LaVar is healthy he is a game changer. Sacks,forced fumbles, ints, he can do it all, as well as lead on the field. This guy is the kind of person everyone wants on their team. He is loyal, more loyal than I have seen in a long time. If we lose LaVar next year is will be very disappointing. imagine a healthy LaVar, Marcus Washington, Griffin, Springs, and Taylor on the field at the same time. WOW, thats a lot of playmakers. LaVar would be good for double digit sacks, a few forced fumbles and maybe an INT. He can change games. I believe they are keeping him healthy to trade him in the offseason. But hey, I guess we havn't won with him on the field. I just want to win, but I also want #56 there when we do start winning.

I read on ES that there was a quote by Bugel saying why he wasn't playing.

Basically that he needs to get back in the game and do what he's asked.

People its personal. It always is with this organization. LaVar is being setup to be released in the offseason before July so we won't have to pay him the 6.5 mill he is due then. He is being frozen out. Simple as that. The PR slant will talk about his decline in June when we cut him. Soon after--he will sign with the Steelers for economical Rooney dollars and shine once again.
All I hear about is how he likes to freelance and is out of posiition. Are you telling me that he freelances more than Sean Taylor? And is prone to giving up more big plays like Sean Taylor? They are both of the same attacking mold--yet Taylor is starting and LaVar is sitting. I guess Sean Taylor is a better Redskin off the field right???
The bottom line is Gregg Williams and LaVar don't mix right now. Williams can talk about how he wants players to buy into his system--but you can't tell me that LaVar is harder to handle than Sean Taylor.

One nuanced point in this discussion is that the media is running with this and we all "Love" Lavar so much b/c he has been rammed down our throats for the last 4-5 years as "THE FACE" of the Redskins. The Mighty Synder pr machine has been in high gear over Lavar since he was drafted.

In all of these crazy up and down seasons we've always at least had Lavar to fall back on. I mean the man put the final nail in the coffin of G-aikman's career. I like Lavar, he is a beast on the field and I want him to play but I think this is kinda ironic that all the posters and jerseys and the team continually saying "Lavar, Lavar, Lavar" is backfiring on them to a degree. I mean the fans all love Lavar and they now want to know why the guy they love is no longer playing and the team keeps saying "Please don't notice the man behind the curtain!, Look we are 3-0"

BTW - Question. What are the cap ramifications if we do trade Lavar after this season? Can another team inherit /assume his cap hit from us or are we forever on the hook for x number of dollars for him depending on whether we release him before or after July.

The Washington Times is already coming up with trade scenarios, LOL.

I agree with whoever said it's a long season, LaVar is going to get his chance again.

Maybe the team is gearing up to move on from LaVar and get out from under his monster contract. Or maybe Williams and co. are simply satisfied with the current lineup and LaVar hasn't earned his job back yet.

During Gibbs press confrence yesterday a reporter asked Gibbs a question about Lavar stating that Lavar had said he could see himself somewhere else in the near future, did anyone hear anything else on that quote by Lavar?

I am absolutely positive that this is not an issue between Gibbs and Williams. And I'm equally positive that Gregg Williams could care less if LaVar Arrington ever starts another game for the Redskins. Absent injuries forcing the situation, I believe that Arrington will be a spot player for the Skins as long as Williams is the defensive coordinator.

I'm curious as to what prompts this certainty? Maybe I'm just out of the loop here, (and I know I haven't seen him in practice or anything) but has LA really done anything that we, you or anyone else knows of to merit being benched no matter what his capabilities are? We're not even talking about realizing potential, we're talking about a perrinial pro-bowler, who has been the leader of our Defense and the Face of the Team...probably the best OLB in the league today.

Everyone talks about him freelancing, but what the hell man, back a couple of years ago, someone had to go make a f'ing tackle. God knows even with Trotter, Armstead, Wilkinson, Stubblefield, Bailey, Gardner, Lang.... we sucked on Defense and he came up with big plays when we needed him to.

I refuse to believe that its beyond him to comprehend or physically preform what is asked of him. ST (even though I love the guy) can't even say his goddamn alphabet, and LA is a chess player.

I'd like to think that it only has to do with him not being able to put in the time in the offseason and its only a matter of time before he works his way back into the lineup. Everyones making it out to be a personal thing, but he has never let anything contractual come in the way of his playing/practicing, and he seems to have an all class attitude no matter what comes his way. (True Redskin Behavior?) He was excited about being signed for the rest of his career to this city when we were a joke of a franchise and other players were crawling their way out.

GW didn't start Taylor at the beginning of last season because he missed time in the offseason, even though Taylor looked like a super-stud in the preseason. I'm seriously hoping its the same type situation and that he gets the chance to earn his job back and does so soon.

This whole situation is really starting to piss me off. If he is not playing so that they can cut him because of the cap I will not watch a game the rest of the season. That is a piss poor way to deal with a contract situation. He has served his time with all the changes in personel on this team and always played his heart out no matter what our record was and now one of the most athletic OLB's in the league is sitting on the bench. Don't get me wrong Holdman is playing good but there is no telling what LaVar could be doing. If they are trying to cut him for cap issues then they should give him time on the field and at least make sure they are making the right choice. If he plays bad then pull him and even ask him to restructure or take a paycut. If he is not recovered no one will trade for him with his contract so big and if they cut him he won;t get the money he was going to get if he was the player everyone thought he was going to be, but if he is 100% healthy, like he said he is and no one has said him sitting is a health issue, there is no doubt in my mind he would again he a pro bowler.

lavar needs to be starting, he's too good to be watching from the sideline's. our defense is doing great, but we lack that big play defender right now, other than sean taylor, lavar the next best person.

Their not going to cut him that would excalate his signing bonus of 11mil, to hit us in 2006, if we trade him we only get hit with a 2 mil in 2006, then the rest in 2007, so forget about releasing him, aint happening. Lavar still should have pretty good trade value, I would imagine there are still teams out there who haven't figured out that Lavar is vastly overated, and grossly overpaid.

I think we're on the hook for the signing bonus, if the roster bonus is for being on the redskins roster, then we probably don't have to worry about that... the next team gets his current contract without the SB money and whatever bonuses the trade negates. though usually after a trade, a new contract is written, so the player ends up with a lot of money...
