Me too, Kev. I simply think Arrington wants to be the star and that doesn't include buying into the scheme and playing his part no matter how large or small. I think he wants sacks from an upright position and bonecrushing hits on RBs. Problem is, he can be caught out of position (over-runs the play) and burned. So I can understand why he's off.

The problem is -- he's not going anywhere. Personally, I would have traded him before giving him that ridiculously huge contract because I feel his contributions aren't worth a portion of our cap that large.

Pretty much nailed it D.

he has too much pride to start a conversation as to what he needs to do to play more, and he's shocked that the staff haven't come to him (he's contributed 3 tackles, so maybe he's just not that important to GW)... still, you figure someone could step in and at least clear the air.

IMO Lavar knows why, he's just having a tough time admitting that it's his own inability to play within Williams system thats keeping him on the bench, probably whats going on is the coaching staff is waiting to hear from Lavar with his actions on the field, and that will start in practice, and he'd better learn to change, because I don't see any scenerio other than injuries that Williams will back down and play the guy unless Lavar changes his mind set.

I think that could be about right on the head, I think it is an attitude thing. Lavar is frustrated and his efforts in practice whether it be lack of energy, or showing the coaches I deserve to be in there and it just not given to me because I am healed. I think Lavar could be a big time play maker, but this coaching staff owes him nothing and feel Holdman has come in and done everything to earn the position and with Lavars athletic ability if he played to his potential in practice and earned the spot he would get it. That is what these coaches are about you earn a position or pay. Just like they did Smoot, Springs played at a pro bowl level last year and Smoot said pay me more for paying at a lower level. It does not work that way with this team it seems. That is how you build a team where players come in and play at a high level and practice at a high level and know if you produce you are rewarded with play no matter 1st round pick or multi-million dollar player.

I sincerely doubt Lavar Arrington is the same player as he was before. If he cant be a better pass-rushing threat than Chris Clemons, something is seriously wrong.
Gregg Williams puts on the field the players that give him the best chance of winning.

I hope im wrong, but... i dunno.

Wonder if he's in Dale Lindsey's doghouse, and that is what is influencing things? If Lindsey isn't happy with Lavar (or if the two are not getting along--wouldn't suprise me given their respected temperments), then I doubt Williams is going to undercut Lindsey (for the same reason that SportsC gave about Gibbs not undercutting Williams). Lindsey gets to work with the LBs night and day, so he'd be in a position to promote or demote Lavar, I bet.

Just speculating. I think we could use LA on the field.

I definately think he gives us an advantage. GW will plan his defense around his players. We have a MLB change last year and Marshall isnt the best in the world at blowing up a gap and shedding a blocker, but he drops back into coverage alot. He drops deep. He puts in clemons as a situational rusher.

Lavar with one leg is better than most olbs in the league. I can't even speculate why he's not playing. Something is amiss. As a player, you have to deliver in practice, and as a coaching staff, if a player is trying, you have to do what you can to get the best players playing to their potential and facilitate communication. Coaching is communication.

Our Defense IS a bit shaky compared to last year. We're being eaten up in the short passing game and we don't quite stuff the run as great as last year, but the biggest thing is pressure. We're not accomplishing it in the games where it matters, so franklyl I dont care what people practice like, if LA can get the pressure in situations that we need, or take on 2 blockers so that other people can get pressure, you have to play the guy. Holdman is good, but he's not close to being the caliber player LA was and is.

You got to put him in. Nothing against Holdman, but has anyone heard his name called in a game yet? Lavar makes a GREAT play the first play in Dallas and you don't see him again. This is what we all refer to a "true" redskin. If he is, the skins owe him an explanation, don't they. Someone stated that we are better w/out him in there? How does anyone know that, since he really hasn't played in the system. He at least deserves an explanation. I've got to believe GW knows alot more than we do, but at least tell him why he only plays 4 plays a game for a 3 time probowler. I truly feel bad for the guy.

Dare I say rings of the Ramsey/Brunell situation.

The coaches are playing the guy they feel gives them what they're looking for... even if it's not the most popular decision.

brunell/ramsey are fairly even, lavar/anyone but washington ARENT close... unless the injury has changed him in some significant way.
