memphisskin 10-05-2005, 05:38 PM LaVar is a very good football player. Maybe because he possesses a rare blend of size, speed and power he is "overhyped" by the media. But he's a playmaker too, something that our defense sorely needs. Yes, we are playing great defensively but the areas in which everyone seems to agree we need to improve on (forcing turnovers and getting pressure on the qb) are LaVar's strengths. I'm not sure why he's not playing right now, obviously the coaching staff knows something that we don't know.
As for "football instinks" let's just say LaVar has plenty. He makes game changing plays, which we may have forgotten since he's yet to really play in GWilliams defense. He's a weapon, right now one we have in reserve, and I sure hope he's making a big impact on opposing defenses sooner rather than later.
mooby 10-05-2005, 05:53 PM Man! this is really starting to upset me. he's better than warrick holdman, cuz holdman's been in the league longer and has yet to to go a single pro bowl. what the hell has warrick done that makes him deserve to be a starter? is gibbs keeping him out cuz he thinks he freelances? what the hell, our defense has a bigger turnover potential with lavar in there. i can only hope at this point that lavar studies like hell to learn the playbook and his place.
railcon56 10-05-2005, 06:45 PM He is a better than average LB, and better that all of the ones we have on our roster(excluding Marcus Washington)
Marcus Washington is good but Lavar would eat him alive for breakfast.... hell he wouldnt even need salt and pepper!!!!!!!
That Guy 10-06-2005, 01:13 AM Marcus Washington is good but Lavar would eat him alive for breakfast.... hell he wouldnt even need salt and pepper!!!!!!!
too bad he can't get on the field to prove it :P
offiss 10-06-2005, 05:50 AM I find it funny that when Lavar can't get on the field after 4 years as a starter, and 4 years to prove what he can do, so many come out and say he's our best LB and on and on, yet Ramsey get's yanked after 19 minutes and so many say if Ramsey was any good he would be playing, they put their trust in Gibbs and say he know's what he's doing. How about putting some trust in Williams, who has out performed Gibbs on his side of the ball 10 times over, but I guess because he's not playing Lavar he hasen't a clue what he's doing? Perhaps we should consult some experts on player development on the defensive side of the ball, Williams could sure use the help, he only finished 3rd over all last season, with no D-line, and a defense that spent 2/3rd's of every game on the field, perhaps the best defensive mind in the game or close to it know's Lavar oh to well.
I agree offiss, if we should have learned anything by now, it's to have some trust in the decision making of this staff.
They've proven us wrong more often than not.
That Guy 10-06-2005, 09:13 AM the difference, offiss, is that ramsey and brunell are both average, and LA is actually good.
#56fanatic 10-06-2005, 09:55 AM Sounds like in todays Washington post LA is getting some reps w/ the starters. The players on defense are starting to come to is aid also. Marcus, and lemar marshall both believe he should be on the field. And they are also using the term I am hearing the most our here and thats "PLAYMAKER". Sooner or later he will see the field, we all just better hope he's been mentally preparing for what he has to do on the field. Hey, why doesn't everyone in the stands start yelling L-A-V-A-R like we did with Ramsey last year, maybe that will work?!

where did you read that? I did see Washington on Total Access talking about how he'll be out there pretty soon, and it was more of a knee thing (??) than anything, but I looked all over the post and didnt see anything like what you just said.
EternalEnigma21 10-06-2005, 09:34 PM I thought this was promising
