Before we wander around any further and the topic of this thread being Brunell, I'm going to say this about the topic,and I'm out.

I have always thought Brunell was a much better QB than what he showed last year, and I'm happy he's meeting with at least moderate success so far this year. The one thing I truly admire about him is the fact he is a consumate professional. He took his demotion, kept his mouth shut, encouraged Ramsey, and did all the right things a true professional does under those same circumstances. It's nice to see that kind of attitude from him because I'm sure he really wanted to continue playing to right his efforts because things were not going good for him. For that I take my hat off to him and wish we had more players with that same type attitude.

If Brunell doesn't get injured and continues performing like he does, I could see him winning comeback player of the year. If he threw for 2 tds and 1 int every game, he'd end up having 30 tds, 15 ints, and 2900 yards. Even though that's highly unlikely to happen, it would be good enough for the skins to make the playoffs. I just hope he doesn't get injured too badly.

I think you're right - he's a strong candidate for comeback. I believe if finishes healthy with something close to those stats he'll win.

Well, I certainly believe if he is still playing pretty well by week 10, then I think definitely he would be a shoe-in for comeback player of the year!

its never the receivers fault for trying to make a play on the ball. It could have been ag reat catch, but either way it was a horrible throw and brunells fault.

Brunell looked excellent on the run, making some clutch passes. I cant beleive he even got that one ball to moss that was ruled incomplete.

Gibbs still needs to work on his play calling, and brunell is still not hitting players in stride. He is underthrowing players and not putting the ball where it should be.

well in that specific case brunell made a bad throw and portis had to reach to try and get the thing, but it was still too far away. Makes sense to me anyways.

I beleive SC was refering to the pass that went off Portis's hands for the INT, it was behind him and he had all he could do to touch it with his fingertips, there are plenty of instinces where a reciever can make contact with the ball yet the ball is pretty much uncatchable, which leaves the QB at fault for one reason or another.

Circumstances will dictate who's fault it is, obviously the QB could have had all he could do to get it there at all, or he could be a lowsey QB.

As an X coach I have run into plenty of people who would say if you can touch it you should catch it, my father included, but that's utter nonesense, how can you have creditablity with your players as a coach if you hand a player a load of garbage? Especially a player who just laid out for a ball and his herculian effort got him no closer than his finger tips, and then tell the reciver it's his fault, and then pat your QB on the back? I would reem my QB if he didn't put the right amount of touch on a ball regardless if it was caught or not.

Brunell is waiting way to long to throw the ball, he is not hitting his recievers out of their breaks, which if he did he would have more room to lead them, but he waits while the reciver is open which allows the defense precious time to recover. With that being said it's not all his fault, Gibbs pass patterns very rarely hit players in stride up the field, that used to be a pet peave of mine back in the 80's about Gibbs, I always felt he missed the boat and some big plays because the recievers were alway's stopped [usually on a comeback route] and then they would have to restart allowing the D to close in on them, Bombs are another story, but the majority of the offense is run that way, Brunell at this point is kind of unable to anticipate the recievers break and get the ball in the air before anyone can react to location, but that is a big problem for a lot of QB's, as well as it's not emphisized by coaches, timing is everything in the passing game IMO.

I believe under the circumstances where Patrick got most of the work through the offseason AND preseason, it's to be expected for Brunell to not play extremely perfect. With that said, we're 3-0 with Brunell playing much better than what he did last year. That's about all that really matters.

I don't get what the big debate is.....Ramsey throws an interception and fumbles twice in one game and people want him out there. In three games Brunell (best I can remember) has barely even tied it. His ONE big mistake in the game and everyone's calling for his head. Yet when Ramsey ended three drives for us people wanted him to stay in. Brunell is our quarterback and he's winning games....to me, that's all that matters.
